Chapter 18 - Vanquisher Skill Training

Activating the Refuge skill, a lightning-looking entity in the shape of a shield appeared from nowhere, enveloping Seven's hand. At that moment, he seemed to have felt a slight heaviness in his body, but it didn't affect his concentration.

Seven guessed that perhaps because this was his first time off using the skill.

Miss Brie already sent three huge bashes of fireballs in the size of a football, charging fast at him with an unnatural speed. Without hesitation, Seven used the shield to block the incoming attacks, folding himself under it.

The first fireball hit the shield upon arrival...

*BAM!*

There was a loud storming sound after the collision, but Seven appeared to be standing firm after that. Miss Brie only nodded as she watched the other two fireballs go as a group.

*BAAM!!*

The second and third fireballs hit the shield in unison this time, causing a more fierce forceful attack. Miss Brie doubted that Seven could withstand this after watching the strikes...

However, the strikes only hit the shield and sent him a few inches backward. Seven saw himself falling at that instant, but he tried to stay strong with all his might.

Somehow, he noticed that the shield was enhancing his stamina, because he knew that he wasn't that strong enough to hold on to such a force.

That time, Miss Brie was already staring at him with her mouth widely agape, her eyes widened. She couldn't help but flinch after noticing that his struggle to stay up was successful. What could she have expected?

The Refuge skill was C-level, which was absolutely the same with her C-rank Fire Magic Fireballs.

"Very impressive. Did you notice an advancement in your stamina after activating the skill?" Miss Brie asked.

"Yes, I felt a heaviness in my body. I guess that has made me able to stay strong after the strikes," Seven exposed.

Miss Brie then nodded and spoke. "It is expected for a defense skill like Refuge. But you have to try to improve the skill in case you run into someone with a higher-ranked Magic ability or a higher attacking skill. If not, then there will be a possibility of making you lose balance in your defense or destroying the shield with the opponent's strikes, understood?" Miss Brie explained.

"Yes," Seven nodded and said.

"I'll try to create some time for physical fitness training to help your fitness abilities. It would be very important in combat, and I know you both know that?"

Seven and Rolanda only nodded in agreement.

The next minute, it was Rolanda's turn to start her skill training. As dance fighting wouldn't involve magic, Miss Brie would have to fight her without using her Fireballs.

"My skill doesn't work without music because it's a dance-fighting skill," Rolanda notified Miss Brie as she stepped forward.

"I know," Miss Brie revealed her awareness and walked into the learning hall. After a moment, she walked out with what looked like a speaker. A small rectangular-shaped speaker.

She then approached one of the chairs in the space and placed the speaker. With a glance at Rolanda, she switched on the speaker, and the echoes of a well-known song in the Greyshield Nation sounded.

"Now, let's begin."

Miss Brie approached Rolanda and gestured to begin.

"You will have to show me your all in this. Fight skillfully and defensively. Don't be carried away by your ability to attack always," Miss Brie informed.

Rolanda nodded. "Sure."

When the training began, Rolanda was the first to launch a strike. Throwing her right leg against the lecturer for a kick, but Miss Brie was just too fast to dodge.

"Hehe, nice strike. Not fast enough," she notified.

Rolanda only glared as she was focused on making a successful strike.

Her aim was actually to beat the lecturer!

Again, she launched another kick with her left leg, her foot aiming straight at Miss Brie's face. The force in which she delivered was quite frightening to Seven as he watched the fight from a near distance... Somehow, he noticed that her moves looked as if she was dancing to the playing song also, which seemed mysterious.

However, he was only convinced when he remembered what the skill level was.

"It's a B-level, what do I expect," he muttered.

Rolanda had tried several ways to hit Miss Brie first, but none was successful. At a point, she became frustrated and her motivation lessened. All this while, Miss Brie didn't make any attempt to strike back; she would only dodge the attacks or defend herself sometimes.

It was just as if Miss Brie was trained in a Martial Art academy, as she was smart enough to detect every move that Rolanda planned to make. Her physical fitness was top-notch, making her agility almost flawless.

It was now that Rolanda had backed down that Miss Brie decided to strike.

*Pow!*

*Pa!*

The speed of a kick and punch from her was more like the movement of lightning. Before Rolanda could know it, a painful sensation had emerged on her face, and her belly.

*Pow!*

Then another kick on her right leg, which suddenly caused her to fall on her knees.

"You can't give up just because you can't strike the enemy successfully. You have to keep attacking and attacking until the enemy is tired of defending. This act could cost you your life if it were to be you against an enemy. Nevertheless, your strikes her hot. Keep it up," Miss Brie spoke.

Rolanda clutched her belly and stood up on her feet. Then she walked away from the fighting spot.

"After your pets' training, we will take the Vanquisher Skills training next. You have to give your best and improve speedily before your mission test. Your scores will be important to increase your overall scores. I'm sure no one of you wants to be left out in the military appointment?" Miss Brie smiled as she warned.

However, the two students only exchanged glances, and were quiet.

Sure, joining the military was a big opportunity which many preferred, but Seven Hermes didn't think that was the best thing for him.

With the way it looked, Seven believed that Rolanda wasn't interested in being in the military either.

They both had the same dream and pursuit...

And that was to enter the Badlands!

"Who cares about slaying the f**king asses of the Sarkers?" Seven muttered.
