Chapter 20 - Public Reaction (Part 4)

Kim Soseong focused on writing idol dramas.

Everyone knows that the hallmark of an idol drama is having a handsome man and a beautiful woman, and the actors must create a unique atmosphere.

But when the male lead gets outshined by the screenwriter, what's left for the audience to watch?

They might as well watch the screenwriter and the actress fall in love.

<> also belonged to Kim Soseong's area of expertise, but Lee Hayoon had never considered inviting him.

He just wanted to make a drama honestly without adding any extra drama.

Lee Hayoon stared at Im Giseok for a long time.

Im Giseok's fingers slowly stopped typing on the keyboard, "It's fine."

"What?"

"I mean the title," Im Giseok said softly, "Don't worry about what others say."

Lee Hayoon: "…"

He had been feeling upset on Im Giseok's behalf because of Kim Soseong's snarky comments, but Im Giseok thought he was mad about the title of the show.

Lee Hayoon, "…Just focus on writing your script, and don't worry about me."

Im Giseok stretched a bit, "I'm done with this scene. I'll think about the plot some more."

When Im Giseok needed to think, he would walk around like an old man, strolling from east to west, looping around the school track.

After that, he would return and sit down to continue writing.

If he had any form of entertainment, it was just snacking and watching dramas—but not relaxing comedies or funny shows.

One time, Lee Hayoon saw him snacking on banana chips while watching a drama.

Even then, he had a pen in hand, jotting down notes every now and then.

Sometimes, Lee Hayoon would check the screenwriters' forum and still see Emperor Boss replying to various posts.

He really wondered where Im Giseok got all this energy.

The people at BingeBox were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Emperor Boss

Everyone knows that in the entertainment industry, movies rank higher than TV dramas and TV dramas rank higher than short dramas.

Broadcast TV ranks higher than regular video sites, which rank higher than BingeBox.

It's not that BingeBox didn't want to produce a longer series—they had already tried several times.

Money was spent, and dramas were filmed, but instead of gaining more VIP members, they ended up with the reputation of "only producing bad shows."

In this era where TV stations control most of the resources, BingeBox wouldn't have bothered joining this well-established industry if they had no ambition at all.

Since long dramas didn't work out, BingeBox decided to try short dramas.

However, once they started this plan, they soon realized that even with money and equipment, they didn't have the right scripts to achieve their goals.

The length of a short drama means the pacing has to be fast—it's best if it grabs the audience's attention right away.

BingeBox thought that calling for script submissions would get them the right scripts, but after more than a month, they only received a few entries, and the quality of those scripts was... disappointing.
