"You don't talk that way to me ma`am." she said aggressively "I won't continue being maltreated just because i work for you." She
continued angrily, as though she was going to throw a punch at who she was talking to. "I have tolerated your harsh treatment for to long and I won't anymore. Here is my resignation letter. I qui-" She was then interrupted by a water splash on her face.
"What are you dreaming of so intensely." Bella mocked.
Nichole glared at her, pissed but still sleepy "You really didn't have to wake me up now Bella." she said frustrated as though completing her statement in her dream made any difference in reality. She had wished to quit her job for the longest of time but it met her needs more than her ego could.
"You'll be late for work" Bella said picking up her towel hanged on the door of the cabinet,
"you don't want to be scolded by the almighty today again." she chuckled.
"And that's the more reason why I'm so angry at you." Nichole whined, "I was just about saying my long awaited words when you woke me up." she continued, jiggling the blanket she covered with her legs complaining.
"And why the water again." she snapped.
Bella chuckled. "Nicky you sleep like you are dead." she replied ignoring her whines. "I tried waking you up a couple times but it was all to no avail, so..." she shrugged, facing her this time. "And you can as well say the word again at work today." she gave out a quiet laugh, teasing Nichole.
"I will soon, and I believe that so strongly." Nichole boasted, finally standing up determined to make a difference, then she sat again rethinking her decisions "but when?" she whined again pulling her
long dark hair which was already scattered by the way she slept, with her hands.
She stood up again, but this time in a sluggish manner, hating the fact she
had to do this again this week. She hated her job and everything that came with
it. Her bosses, her colleagues, her desk, every single thing. She was only
motivated by Bella her childhood friend who she worked with and the little homeless
cat she fed daily when going and coming back from work. Those were her only
drive and they kept her going for the two years she worked in the company.
"I'll wash up after preparing breakfast." Nichole said to Bella who was now dressing up to get ready for work.
"There won't be any need for breakfast Nicky." Bella interrupted.
I would buy something light from the cafe across for us both on my way to work,
my treat." she said letting out a deep smile. "So you just wash up
now and prepare for work okay?"
"Okay." Nichole replied excited, as she headed to the bathroom to get her self washed up. When she was done bathing, she stared at the mirror in the bathroom which had broken way before she arrived the apartments, deeply, lost in thought, like she'd noticed something scary. The steam of the hot water she'd bathed with saturated the bathroom leaving little space for dry air. With
her hair dripping with water and her bangs covering her face like a ghost girl
in a horror movie, she looked at herself with so much pity wondering where it
all went wrong for her. She was never this wretched, she had all she wanted at
her finger tips. Her bathroom alone was way bigger than the room she shared, and her meals were prepared by chefs. She lacked nothing. A warm tear rolled down her moist face. Now she regretted leaving her home
for that home wrecker. She felt defeated.
"Nicky I'm off to work!" Bella shouted from the bedroom, bringing
her back to reality.
"Okay Bella." she wiped her face quickly with the face towel that was hanged by the side of the mirror in other not to be caught by Bella. "
catch you up at work!" she said audible enough for Bella to hear from where
she was, waving her hands at Bella through the door.
This was not the first time she stared at herself in the mirror with pity,
she'd done it a few times, like when she was assaulted at work by a drunk
client who had picked on a weak colleague who couldn't stand for her self and
decided to stand for her but was scolded by her boss for defending a colleague.
"clients are always right!!" her boss scolded stamping her hands
on her desk and threatening to get her sacked.
She'd gone to the restroom at work angry and stared at herself in the mirror
pitifully knowing she wouldn't have gone through all that if she hadn't left
home. And also, when she was harassed by some street boys she had confronted
for assaulting a teenage girl on her way to school. She was the type of person
who stood up for the weak although she was weak herself. She hated injustice
and everything that came with it, which made her wish she was still in her
throne so she could get them all executed. She had a soft heart and sharp
mouth, a trait which got her in trouble most times.
She dressed up in her usual hood sweater and a baggy jean to match it up.
Her dark long hair, brushed neatly giving it a silky look, and her overgrown
bangs cutting through her eyebrows like she made efforts to hide her eyes with
them.
She walked out of the apartment forcing the now slide door to close with her
keys that slightly didn't match the door knob because it was a fabricated key.
After long efforts to fix the door in place and lock it with her key, she gave
a deep sigh.
"I hate this place so much!" she nagged, thwarted, as she held the door in place finally locking it tight. She left the apartment in a rush, walking as fast as she could to catch the next bus she could find. She was already getting late, although she was awoken earlier than her set time which made her even more upset, any further delay would get her scolded again by her annoying boss which she tried so hard to avoid. As she curved into the alleyway close to the bus station, she noticed blood
spilled all over the staircase and
through the part that led to the woods. Something strange had happened.
