The arena suddenly went dark with only the open space where the contender stood brightly illuminated.
"Round one, begin." The voice was followed immediately by a horn.
Gru took a battle stance while Uno just stood, observing the situation.
The ground underneath their feet began to turn in a circular motion with sharp objects coming out from underneath. This battle was different it was a first-to-score battle and neither of the contenders was making any move.
'What do I do, I've been paired with someone who has multiple systems.' Uno thought he was almost overrun by a sharp blade that came twirling against his feet. He quickly made a jump, indicating he was in the battle. 'There were no restrictions against using a weapon in the rules, I'd better use that to my advantage.' Uno materialized a sling in his hands.
Rohan and Annie just watched from the dark like every other person present in the arena which was quiet except for the sound of the ground and the objects that were moving around in the space.
Gru quickly swung his body to the left, evading a green ball that was headed for him.
"He just made a ball out of nothing, and I have no weapon of my own," Gru said as he quickly adjusted himself from where he stood. He quickly activated his strength, pulling a sword from the object, and cutting his hands in the process. He quickly used the blood dripping from his palm to heal himself.
"Now that's, next level business," Rohan said rather too loudly breaking the silence from the crowd, as a few people turned to face his direction.
"So far our contenders have not been able to land any hits on each other and it's twenty minutes already." The voice came from the speakers.
Uno made a quick move after hearing the voice from the speakers. He used his speed as an advantage, launching a swift attack against Gru. Within seconds he was in front of Gru, landing a punch on the inexperienced boy.
Despite Gru having a perception he was inexperienced in using such skills, even at level two. He landed on the floor while Uno made another punch, but was stopped by an object that threatened to brush through his legs.
"We have our first hit for the day." The voice came again, with the crowd cheering. This was one of the best options for indigents to get their minds off the hardship they passed through daily and the closest they would ever get to being in the academy activities.
Gru stood up as he attempted to hit his opponent with his sword. Another green ball threatened his life when he used his sword to block it. Instead, the ball went right through, grazing his left ear. The sword was split in two parts, the green ball acted as an acid that ate through the metal.
"And the first streak, four to go."
'I have to think of a way to continue with my streak if I am to win this battle.' Uno thought as he made to activate his skills, flash movement.
Gru was patiently waiting for Uno's next move before making a countermovement that would secure his victory.
Uno arrived behind Gru who took a quick turn, giving Uno a devastating blow to the stomach. Gru had utilized his full perception potential and was using it against Uno.
'How is it possible, he made a counter move against me.' Uno thought as he held his hands against his stomach.
Gru made his five streak hits immediately after the first landing all safely.
"And we have ourselves a winner, what a comeback." The voice came again from the speakers. "Now moving to the next round we have Gru."
The lighting system in the arena came back on after the horn went off. The battle was over and they had a winner.
"I think that's enough fun for now let's go get something to eat before I take you to your room," Annie said as she moved away from the arena with Rohan behind her.
"I'm telling you he used perception to win that battle, no way he did that on his own," Rohan said referring to Gru whom he was observing the whole time. Annie refrained from replying to Rohan as she continued her journey to the canteen.
The canteen area was a new block on its own. The doors were wide open and the seats were neatly arranged in order. Annie walked over to a counter picking up a plate.
"Follow my lead, and let's be quick. We do not need to draw attention." Annie said leaving Rohan behind.
Rohan followed immediately picking up a plate. He had yet to decide what he wanted for dinner after a long day.
"I'll have some beacons and some salad," Annie said, her plate was handed back to her shortly after with what she had ordered lying in the plate. "C'mon make your order. I'll be sitting over there." Safe said as she left for a nearby seat.
"I'll have some scrambled eggs, and rice balls, with a can of soda," Rohan said handing out his plate to the waiter who stood behind the counter.
"Let's get out of here," Annie said, they were now done with eating and had relaxed a bit. "I'll show you to your quarters.
Annie and Rohan walked back to the main building entrance. "We'll go through here to get to the recruit's quarters.
They soon arrived in front of a room. "Now creating an identity." A voice came from the door as Rohan placed his hands on the door. "I D creation complete. Welcome Rohan Nile of the Nile Nation." The name mentioned to Rohan by the voice was different. He knew no Nile.
"Don't think about it too much, I'll just set it up tomorrow," Annie said. "Now go get into something more comfortable and prepare for tomorrow, we have a long way to go," Annie said as she left Rohan inside his room. The room was small but had all the necessities one needed, a bed, a reading table, and a box of essentials.
"Let's see what clothing they have here for me," Rohan said as he walked up to the wardrobe, and and opened it. Rohan picked a new set of clothes for himself. Quickly taking a bath Rohan changed into his uniform that was made of gray and black materials.
The emergency alarms suddenly went off. signaling everyone to move to a muster point. Rohan quickly rushed out of his room.
