"This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill. Kindly move to the nearest exit and move to the muster point." A voice came from the speakers in the hallway.
"What's happening?" Rohan asked no one in particular as he joined the crowd in moving out of the building. They all soon arrived at a muster point in front of the academy clinic.
The floodlights in front of the clinic descended on the crowd as they all formed a uniform line.
"We're under attack, some wildlings just broke out of the research center and we need the best from you all to contain this incident." A man dressed in an armored suit said he had gray hair and eyes like a wolf. "Now, I need level five and above recruits to assist me with this job."
Some high-level recruits came out immediately. "Now let's go, the rest of you defend yourself should there be any attack." The man said as he moved away with the volunteers towards the building.
Rohan went in search of Annie amongst the crowd since he did not see her coming out of the building or volunteering to go back inside.
"Annie, Annie!" Rohan called out as he moved through the crowd.
"Ahh!" A cry came from the crowd. "They're here, the wildlings are here."
The recruits came back together clustering against each other. "Wildlings detected, six in total, level seven." Rohan's monitor beeped. They were under attack and had no help from anyone. Rohan quickly materialized his gauntlet, preparing to protect himself.
They were oblivious to the type of wildlings they faced. Suddenly a wildling came in front of the recruits. It had the figure of a chimpanzee with four arms and a set of protruding fangs for its teeth, 'this was truly a wildling.' Rohan thought. "How does this thing work," Rohan said as he stretched out his left arm where his gauntlet materialized.
The wildling attempted to attack a recruit but was hit instead by a ball of blue energy. It turned, facing the direction it was hit from. "Whoa!" Rohan exclaimed excitedly upon his discovery. The wildling immediately made a run for Rohan who was still standing.
"Run!" Came a voice, Rohan immediately noticed the wildling coming at him as he quickly made a run into the clinic attempting to evade the wildling since his first shot did not affect the wildling only causing a distraction.
The thud made on the door as Rohan barged into the clinic filled the reception hall. The wildling chased after Rohan and closed the gap between them. Rohan began to throw whatever he could grab on using it to block the path he ran through. This attempt managed to slow down the wildling that was hot on Rohan's tail.
The lighting system in front of Rohan suddenly began to flicker. "Who's there." Rohan managed to ask as he made a halt to observe what he was running into. Another wildling came in front of Rohan, blocking his path. "You have nowhere to run to, human." Rohan could understand the language the wildling spoke but how he still did not know what type of system he had, and his gauntlet only managed to draw the attention of the wildlings to him. 'Summon Quad.' Rohan engaged with his screen.
Quad immediately materialized turning to take the wildling behind Rohan. "Both wildlings are of level seven, I guess I'm on my own now," Rohan muttered as he rushed towards the wildling in front of him with his mallet.
Lifting himself into the air, Rohan used all the strength he could gather in his body, sending it into the mallet. The mallet landed on the shoulder of the wildlings, which succumbed to the power wielded by the weapon. Its shoulder was now dislocated leaving only three arms active.
"You two, take the left wing and check for survivors." The man in the armored suit said as he led the other volunteers to check for any survivors and kill any wildling that was still on a rampage in the building.
Rohan was outnumbered now by the wildlings, which were now three in number. His screen came up, blocking his view.
It displayed and activated the system. Rohan quickly obliged as his mallet dematerialized with his gauntlet coming back on his left arm. "The system successfully activated now recharging." His screen informed him.
"Rohan, Rohan!" Annie called shaking Rohan rigorously from the floor where he lay.
"Ugh!" Rohan's eyelids slowly opened, as he tried to look around. He was still in the hallway lying on the floor with Annie beside him. "What happened?" Rohan asked Annie, as he sat up resting his back on a wall.
"You tell me, you were surrounded by three wildlings, even at level zero with no system revealed yet. You managed to defeat three wildlings." Rohan was bewildered, he remembered nothing after activating the system and now he was on the floor. The hallway was a mess with the dead bodies of the wildlings on the floor.
"Let's get out of here before someone meets us here," Annie said, helping Rohan get up from the floor. They both came outside the clinic rejoining the recruits while waiting for an update from the volunteers that had gone into the main building. "We'll talk about this later when we've settled this issue," Annie said to Rohan.
"Quick, we need a healer." The volunteers came out of the main building carrying someone on a stretcher. A girl with short blonde hair walked up to the side of the stretcher. She used a liquid stored in a waist bottle to begin the healing system, as she tended to the injuries of the person on the stretcher.
The volunteers ran back into the main building when suddenly one of them came running back. "We need some help, anyone available to join us in the rescue." He asked. Some brave recruits who had the now mustered courage joined him going back into the main building.
After a while, the wait was over as the volunteers and the man in the armored suit came out from the main building. They were able to bring out some survivors with them.
"It's all over." The man said. "You can now head back to your quarters if you are unscathed, we'll take it from here." Annie escorted Rohan back to his quarters before leaving.
"See you in the morning." She said as she walked away.
