The rays of the sun cascaded through the window illuminating the room as Annie opened the window.
"Mhmm." Rohan was now awake as he wiggled his hands over his eyes. "How did you get in?" He asked Annie as he sat up on the bed, his black hair, rough from last night's event.
"It's morning, sunshine. And we have a long day. Today you begin your first class." Annie said as she paced around the room. She was already dressed in a gray leather tracksuit that fitted nicely on her body. "I'm your guardian and I say you get ready. I'll be back in ten." Annie said walking out of the room.
Rohan sluggishly got up from the bed and began to freshen up. "Am back!" Annie said as she opened the door to the room, Rohan was now finished with his preparation and sat on his bed navigating through his screen. He was now at level two and his gauntlet was now at level five. 'How did I level up, when I have no memory of doing battle?' Rohan thought. "Let's move to the canteen it's almost time for breakfast. Annie said. She didn't want to raise the events of last night just yet.
They both walked out of the room with Rohan shutting the door behind them. The hallway was now neatly arranged and the recruits went about their activities as usual. It was as if nothing happened last night. Rohan wore a black tracksuit since that was the only dress he could find in his wardrobe. Similarly, some recruits also dressed the same while escorted by recruits dressed in gray leather tracksuits.
"What class do I get today?" Rohan asked, stopping Annie in her tracks. It was better he started to prepare his mind. A lot of strange things had begun to happen since he arrived at the academy. "I don't know! I only received a memo to come with you to class." Annie said as she continued her journey.
They soon arrived at the canteen. The place was already crawling with recruits who were already prepared for the day. Annie and Rohan grabbed a plate as they walked to the counter. Nobody was present to serve the food so they had to do it themselves. Rohan grabbed some waffles and eggs before heading for the vending machine to get some juice. He walked over to where Annie sat, already gulping down the food she got.
"After class, we continue our tour," Annie said, with food in her mouth.
"Ok!" Rohan muttered, nodding his head. Rohan was done with his food and informed Annie who seemed to be busy chatting with a bunch of other recruits who wore the same tracksuit as her.
"Let's go' now!" Annie pulled Rohan by the arm as they left the gathering, Rohan seemed to be eavesdropping on the conversation between the recruits she stood with before.
"I'll be honest with you, the class isn't what you think. It's not the regular sit and listen, no!" Annie said to Rohan as they exited the canteen building. "You are taken out on a series of life-threatening challenges to help access your system and evaluate your position in a team. Usually it takes a day or two but since you haven't been able to identify your system, I don't know, maybe it would take longer I guess."
Rohan was bewildered he was expecting a normal class but here, now Annie was telling him about another thing. "Why tell me now?" Rohan asked Annie.
"You see, the Captain has been searching for you ever since we arrived and he believes you are our ticket out of this world, so maybe the machines might reveal your true identity."
"I'll try my best to evade such." Rohan proclaimed as if he knew what to do.
They came out of the hallway before coming in front of a gigantic glass door on the sidewalk before the door a screen displayed class. Rohan was terrified after listening to Annie but showed no facial expression. He remained confident with his smile.
Rohan walked through the door behind Annie, there were already some recruits present in the room.
The room was made of glass all through, even underneath the floor. It was as if the glass was see-through but only from the outside. The sounds of footsteps resounded in the room as a man walked in he was almost at a six feet height, with a scar between his left eyebrow. His hair glowed red as did his lips, like fresh blood.
"This is your first day in class." He said referring to no one in particular, as he walked to the center stage. The room had seats facing each other like a mini auditorium with a stage in the center.
"Guardian, please move to my left and the recruits to my right." The man said. "My name is Laxmi, and I could be your worst nightmare or your accessor. The choice is yours."
The room was now arranged with every one seated. A desk emerged from underneath the center stage, it had a large screen on top with some buttons.
"Now who would like to go first, or shall we do this together?" Laxmi asked facing the direction of the recruits.
A boy raised his hand, before he could say a word, he was pulled underneath the room with his seat.
'What just happened?' Rohan thought. 'Was that the beginning of the class?'
"And our first recruit is underway," Laxmi said taking a seat.
The ceiling of the room became a projector that displayed the experience the boy that was pulled was having. He had a healer system and was tasked with making a choice, return to headquarters and heal the monarch or continue with his course of healing the sick townspeople who were injured from battle since there was war between multiple factions dragging for power.
"Next recruit, start getting ready," Laxmi said pointing at the recruits. "You there, change up I want you in first." Laxmi's hand stopped at Rohan.
