The day couldn't be said to be a good one. I rolled on my bed and groaned as the day went on. I was so tired and feeling weak, but what did I expect after the encounter with the guy at the bar?
"I hope this is not what I'm thinking," I muttered as I sat upright on my bed. But I was feeling weak all through.
Apart from the activities of the night, the breakup with my boyfriend also weakened my condition more.
"Something needs to be done," I whispered to myself as I scrolled through my phone.
I called Selena my best friend who also had always been my shield during hard times. Living without a parent could be stressful, it was not easy.
"Hello bestie," I said into the phone while lying on the bed.
"Hey! When will you come and see me?" Her eagerness was almost pouring out through the phone. I laughed out loud as I saw that she really missed me.
"Ohh, stop it girl. Don't miss me too much, I will come over to your place soon," I said with much vigor, finally coming back to myself a little bit.
I hung the call and groaned. I laid back on the bed and decided to sleep a little.
"Just a little," I muttered to myself as sleep slowly took me away.
I was abruptly dragged from my dream world when my phone rang. I woke up, feeling dizzy and picked the call.
"When will you bring your butt over? It's evening already!" Selena shouted through the phone, already getting impatient about my late arrival.
I was surprised and checked my time and that didn't help to reduce my shock but rather added more to it.
I said some words to her and finally hung up.
'Something was definitely wrong with me,' I thought as I sat down upright on my bed.
Then I felt something build up in my throat and I ran to the toilet to vomit. It was not looking funny again. With haste, I rinsed my face and went out of the house to a pharmacy nearby.
"How may I help you, Ma?" The receptionist questioned as I entered.
"I want to purchase a pregnancy test kit," I told her in a meek tone.
She rummaged through the drugs and finally picked one before handing it to me after putting it in a bag.
"Here you go, Ma," she said as she handed the drug to me and I collected it from her and paid. I didn't wait for anything and just ran out of the pharmacy after paying.
"Ma, you forgot your change," she shouted at my running figure but I ignored her.
The change was my least problem. I needed to figure out what was going on with me.
I was sweating profusely when I entered my room. Gasping for breath and suddenly feeling weak again.
Then I rushed into the bathroom to perform the test. I gently brought out the kit, read the instructions and did according to it.
'I hope it's not what I'm thinking,' I thought as I held the kit far from my eyes with my eyes tightly shut, "Oh, Lord, help your own."
I finally got the courage to check it and I opened my eyes. My jaw opened wide from what I saw.
"I'm shattered!" I shouted, staring at the result.
"It can't be" I said in disbelief so I checked again to be sure but it was still the same.
The two red marks stare boldly at me. I couldn't think straight. What would happen now?
"What am I going to do?" I questioned myself as I checked my wardrobe and pulled out a gown.
I dressed up and ended it with a spray of perfume before leaving the house. I stopped a cab and went over to Selena place. It was her I needed at that moment.
*************
"Are you telling me that you are pregnant!" With shock spread all over Selena's face, she shouted.
"I'm serious, I also couldn't believe it when I saw it," I said with a downcast tone.
"Do you remember the last person you had sex with?" She inquired, her eyes fixed on me sternly.
"Ohh, babe, I can't." I responded as I held my head tightly.
"I'm in a mess," I said as I gritted my teeth together and hit my foot on the floor.
"Stop it, hurting yourself isn't the solution. We need to find who the father of the baby is," she said, offering a calming pat on my back.
"I know, but I find it difficult to remember," I said with a grim expression on my face.
"Easy, just take a deep breath and find out who," she advised, calming me down. She gave me five minutes of silence for me to think, atleast of not asking any questions.
After the five minute silence, I slowly raised my head to meet the eager eyes of Selena.
"So, what?" She asked impatiently.
''I think I can remember," I responded with a weak smile.
''Good, come on, tell me girly. Who is the father?'' she questioned me in a hurry.
Inhaling the air and exhaling it out, it was then I knew how ridiculous it was to have a night with a total stranger.
"I had a one night stand with a stranger," I frowned as the realization dawned upon me.
''You mean, a one night stand with a stranger?" She questioned and a thin line was already forming between her brows by then.
''How is that even possible?" She asked again and at that moment, I wanted to tell her that I'm more shocked then she was.
I bursted out, "I didn't do it intentionally. I just needed to clear my head after my breakup and it led to that."
''It's alright girly, I'm here, I'm here for you,'' Selena tried to comfort me and she stood up to me and pulled my head on her chest, petting me.
I needed her care then and I was happy she gave it.
'So, who was he, truly?' It was all a mystery how I could barely remember.
"I can't even remember his face clearly," I sniffled a sob as I said.
Selena pulled from the hug and sat close to me, "Now tell me whatever you can remember."
"I would help you out and try to figure it out," she promised and I was sure to take her words for it.
I knew Selena wasn't all barks and no bite. She would actually do it. It was one of what made me think she wasn't human, the way she could find answers to some problems. Quite supernatural.
"Come on, talk to me," she said, waiting patiently for me to remember.
"Okay. I went to the club to have a drink and a man appeared. We talked together and I noticed his black long bun hairs and his gray eyes," I said as I held my head tightly, rummaging through my memories.
I didn't know what happened but all of a sudden, it felt like a spell was casted on me and I was able to quickly get a glimpse of the image in my head.
