Chapter 8 - Leveling Up!

"The road is really long..." She mumbled, and took out the last technique that was given by her father.

"Nature's Grace, let's see what's so special about you..." She said and opened the scroll.

As soon as she opened it, her eyes lit up and she stared at it. Her lips slowly grew wider, showing off the bright smile she wore as a little girl when she got her favorite food. Her fingers touched the edges of the scroll, carefully tracing the seams with a light and delicate touch, like an artist holding the brush that he has mastered his entire life. She wanted to preserve it.

Reading the scroll from top to bottom, she had a ruff understanding of the technique. Nature's Grace is a technique that uses wood Qi that transfers vital energy to another person, speeding up their bodies natural recovery system. This technique can also drain a person's energy as well, making it an attack technique of some sort.

[Detecting that the host has read the "Natural Grace" Technique. Would you like to add it to the system?]

[Y/N]

The same as last time and every time in the future, she clicked yes.

[Host: Lin Susu]

[Realm: First Stage of Qi Refinement (XP: 0/20)]

[Bloodline: Mortal]

[Vitality: 15/101]

[Exercises: (Can't practice)]

[Techniques: level 1/9 Phantom Root (XP: 0/1000), Level 1/9 Emerald Swan (XP: 0/10000), Level 1/6 Natures Grace (XP: 0/100)]

[Professions: Healer (XP: 0/10)]

Looking at the new information on the system panel, Lin Susu grinned happily and sat there cross legged for a little, pondering while she looked at the system.

"So Nature's Grace is most likely a bronze grade technique judging by the amount of XP needed to level up. As for professions… What does it exactly do?" She asked and clicked on the healer profession.

[Healer: Strength wood Qi by 10% every level.]

Lin Susu thought about this for a second before realizing it was pretty good. If she has 5 levels in it, she should have 50% stronger wood Qi and stronger vitality. This would also strengthen all the techniques she currently has as well.

"Well, not bad. But how do I level up my techniques? By practicing?" Lin Susu mumbled to herself, before starting to practice the Phantom Root Technique.

Sitting in the same lotus position, she closed her eyes and focused. Slowly but surely, Lin Susu began to feel that she had an extension of herself that is in the form of a root. Seeing that it was successful, she got up from her bed and felt the connection between her mind and the root. It wasn't far away and was just a few steps from her.

Satisfied, Lin Susu used the technique and suddenly disappeared where the root was and replaced it, but the root itself disappeared, meaning she had to create a new root.

[XP: 0.1]

[Phantom Root Technique XP: 1]

"So easy?" She said subconsciously, but looking at that 0.1 for her cultivation, she couldn't help but feel a dull pain in her heart.

"It took me roughly a minute to use this technique, and I used up only 5% of my current Qi, meaning I can do this twenty times reaching the limits of my Qi reserves. What is with the experience requirement so high? I'll have to do this technique for nearly seventeen hours straight before leveling it up. Not to mention it will take ten cycles to just get 1 XP, meaning it will take ten days to level up once." Lin Susu pouted, but didn't lose heart.

Lin Susu went and tried Emerald Swan next, as it could increase her Qi reserves. Sitting down, she placed both hands on her lap, closing her eyes and took a deep breath in. In her mind, she saw a heart with nine veins, but only one vein was glowing green. Focusing on this vein, she opened herself to the environment around her and her heart started to pump rapidly.

Slowly, a thin green Qi appeared, coming from nature and entering through the vein, causing Lin Susu to shiver. The Qi started to move through her veins, like a stream, moving to her entire body and disappearing. The whole time Lin Susu's eyes remained close. She felt as if she could sense her entire body now and a new sensation. It felt like there was a small spring in her body, and this Qi is the water inside that spring.

After three cycles, Lin Susu was panting hard, her forehead sweaty and a slight smile appeared on her mouth.

[XP 3]

[Emerald Swan Technique XP: 3]

"Hmm, much better. Thirty times the amount of XP, but I can only run this technique once a day as it would damage my heart. Though, it would be better to perform this technique with little Qi left as it can rapidly recover it. That means I could probably do thirty cycles of the Phantom Root Technique."

Lin Susu laid back in bed, relaxing her mind and heart for a minute. She wanted to see the effects of Nature's Grace, but she currently doesn't have this opportunity.

"Hmm, enough thinking and let's get started." Saying that, for the next twenty five minutes, Susu constantly used the Phantom Root Technique in her room, and could now form a root while standing up and not moving.

[XP 2]

[Phantom Root Technique XP: 20]

Lin Susu sat on the ground panting for breath. The Emerald Swan Technique auxiliary effects kicking in at one hundred percent. The small spring in her body was now twice as big. She could feel her energy recover faster than before.

Seeing the panel in her mind, she laughed, and jumped in the air happily, and screamed like an excited kid.

She gained 5 experience points in under an hour. This is many times faster than her previous performance.

Without waiting much, she grabbed a set of clothes and headed straight to the bathroom to take a shower.

[XP: 1]

"Hehe, taking a shower is still the most satisfying way to get XP." Lin Susu chuckled and walked back to her room, drying herself. She grabbed a set of green clothes and put them on before she left her room, heading out back to the main hall.
