"Please escort her back home safe and sound." Mike Clinton kept nagging to Eason Brook until Eason Brook made a serious promise.
"Bye then." Mike Clinton winked to Sheena and left with a meaningful smile which wasn't caught by Eason Brook but Sheena.
Sheena just ignored the ridiculing of Mike Clinton and comforted Eason Brook, "it's okay for me to go back alone."
In fact, it's just a drive of 15 minutes from the restaurant to the apartment that she rented, and she could go back alone. However, obviously Mike Clinton was making use of the chance and trying to create chances for them to get well along.
Eason patted on the forehead of Sheena and grinned gently, "Just save that saying. I'll, and it's a kind of etiquette to escort a girl back home at such a late night."
The moon upon them was quite bright and outstanding. This reminded Sheena when they met for the first time.
"Do you still remember the first time we met each other?" Sheena looked up at Eason Brook. Eason Brook frowned his eyebrows and tried to figure out when.
"I guided you to the dormitory?" Eason Brook smiled and received the appreciations of Sheena.
Sheena smiled with satisfaction. Back then when she finished the enrollment procedures, he just showed up and claimed to lead her to the dormitory. He was assigned by the college to guide the way for the juniors as the senior.
"Back then you were really gentle." Sheena was still amazed by the first meeting moment.
Eason Brook was walking along the pathway, when hearing this he just stopped and turned to Sheena.
"Do you mean I'm not gentle now?" With teasing sense in his eyes, Eason Brook was shining with his warm smile under the lamp light.
Sheena had a kind of feeling of getting back to the days when he was still in the college. Back then he was single and hadn't been together with Silvia.
"If It weren't you, I must have lost my way in that big campus." Sheena could still remember his back when he was guiding the way ahead of her, his back was so straight and upright. He was just as bright as the sun upon her head.
"Back when I was amazed by the conflict on you." Eason Brook said in a slow tone as if recalling those memories.
"What?" It was the first time for Sheena to hear how she was like in the mind of Eason Brook, so she was a little surprised that Eason would bear such a thought on her.
"You look calm and mighty so much, such a small girl carried those luggage without asking for any help from others." Eason stared at Sheena firmly, "but you seem to have difficulties in recognizing the roads. So innocent as a little girl."
"It turns out that you know my weakness in direction recognition." Sheena was embarrassed, but Eason Brook just patted on her hair.
"Everyone has his/her weakness, you don't need to always pretend to be so mighty and tough." Eason Brook turned to Sheena, as if seeing through the eyes of Sheena.
"You don't have to be always so mighty and tough." Sheena repeated with a lopsided grin. Sheena couldn't help thinking of the ridiculing of this sentence. If she was not mighty and tough enough, she wouldn't survive in making a living.
"What's wrong? Why are you looking so bad?" Sheena was waken from the thinking by the voice of Eason Brook. Sheena looked up and caught the worries in his eyes.
Sheena shook her head to deny, "Nothing big. Don't worry. Just…nothing."
Eason Brook could sense her refusing to confess her difficulties, however, he chose to respect her decision. So he changed the topic and continued the chat until the taxi came.
That's a drive of 15minutes, shorter than any conversations that they had ever had, but Eason Brook suddenly realized such moment had helped him have the chance to get closer to her and understand her more. Maybe it was because the identity and the relationship before than he hadn't paid any attention to other girls, including Sheena. But now he finally began to realize the story between them did mean something more than he realized.
"See you in my house warm-up party." Eason Brook invited again before Sheena got down the vehicle.
Sheena thought for a little while before nodding as an agreement. Eason Brook left with a smile full with satisfaction.
When the call of Cherry Hathaway came, Sheena was opening the door of her apartment. Sheena looked down on the call and was hesitate in picking up. Such a call at such a late night wouldn't mean anything good, and this experience was solidified by the past cases.
"Why did it take so long for you to pick up the phone?" Sheena finally decided to pick up the phone call but only received the scolds from her sister Cherry Hathaway.
Under the spoiling cultivation way of Lena Lim, Cherry Hathaway had grown into an arrogant girl that cared nothing but only herself. Sheena could still remember the past back when her mother Lena Lim would always treat them differently.
Facing the arrogance of Cherry Hathway who yelled as if scolding the maid, Sheena grinned in silence, "if you keep yelling like this, I'll hang up the call."
The threat had successfully stopped the yelling of Cherry Hathway, who immediately lowered down her voice and begged for help, "Sheena, transfer 1000 dollars for me."
Sheena frowned and didn't respond.
The silence of Sheena made Cherry Hathway in the other side of the phone anxious as the ant on the hot pot, "Sheena, please, if you don't give me, I have to ask from Mom, if she knows I've spent money like this, she would beat me to death."
It turned out that Cherry Hathway had invited the whole roommates to a club for her birthday party, and the expenditure had gone beyond the affording of Cherry Hathway that she had to ask for help from Sheena.
Sheena burst into laughter. "Since you are so generous to treat them a party in the club, why don't you just pay the bill yourself." Mocking at her little sister, Sheena was really envy her, who could do this just for fun and happiness while she had to work day from night. Now she even dare to ask her to cover the cost of her happiness. It's really ridiculous!
"Older Sister, I'm begging to you. The party is almost over, if I don't pay the bill, I will be laughed at in the rest of my study career."
"So, you mean you want me to pay the bill to stop others' making fun of you. If you don't have that money to cover the expenditure, why did you stand treat?" Sheena put down the bag on the sofa and yelled at the phone.
"Older Sister, please give me the money. I won't do it next time. Please." Scared by the tone of Sheena, Cherry Hathaway began to shed tears.
"You're my older sister, if you don't help me, who could help me?"
"If you don't give me the money, then I'll call Lena, I'll tell her you've treated your younger sister like this. You've married the rich man, and you're trying all means to get rid of the trouble like us..."
Sheena couldn't believe what she heard from the call. She didn't know Cherry Hathaway had learned to mock at her sister or threaten her sister to get what she wanted.
"What's more, since our brother-in-law is so rich, 1000 means nothing, isn't it?" Cherry Hathaway kept nagging in the other side of the party. Sheena even heard a question from someone there asking, "have you gotten the money? The waiter has come to ask for the payment."
It seemed that Cherry was pushed to pay the bill. Cherry immediately continued the begging. "If you leave me alone, I will call Stephan Korade for help. After all, he is my brother-in-law now, right?"
Sheena was amazed by the cleverness of Cherry Hathaway who now could go for the jugular. Sheena suddenly saw a black hole was going to swallow her into it, and she even couldn't reject or stopped.
Sheena looked at the clock clicking to the 04:23, it's too late and tomorrow she still had the courses to attend, therefore, Sheena just wanted to stop the conversation, "Give me the bank account."
When hearing Sheena agreed to give her money, Cherry Hathaway immediately hanged up the call and sent the account number via message.
Inside the message box, only the account number was so obvious and distinguishing on the blank interface.
Yes, Cherry had never ever contacted her or chatted with her before. They weren't as good as the sisters in other families.
Sheena could still remember when Cherry Hathaway was born, the whole family was fulfilled with happiness for the newly-born baby. Back then Sheena thought this family could be firm and tight as a real family, but time had proved all were just fantasy.
