"Don't you feel shameless for asking for all of these?" Sheena yelled at the continuously-nagging Evan Hathaway.
"No!"
"No way!"
Both Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway had refused to accept the question of Sheena. Both of them looked at Sheena with a kind of coldness and greediness in their eyes.
"No matter what you said, we deserve to ask for something bad." Lena Lim rolled her eyes at Sheena and looked down upon her deliberation. "Don't be so naïve! We have raised you up, and we need to be paid back."
Sheena was irritated to deny, but she was helpless in persuading them, who looked like deaf to what she had repeated.
Evan Hathaway sighed heavily as if he was helpless, "Sheena, you need to know, I earn no money, what Lena earned as an administrative employee wouldn't be able to cover the future expenditure of our family, we have to seize this chance to get something from them. They're not lack of money, aren't they?"
Evan Hathaway was quite considerate at this moment. Sheena stared at him and realized all of them had enough reasons to do what they intended to do. What's worse, no matter what reason she had tried to use to convince them to stop, it would just not work. Talking to a deaf would only result in nonsense.
"Fine, all depends on you." Sheena gave up. Deep inside, she could only beg for they wouldn't cross the line too much. "Don't ask for too much."
Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway smiled with satisfaction, "of course, we will just ask for what we deserve. After all, they would do it according to the etiquette."
"So, I'll tell Stephan Korade about your agreement on the official dinner." Sheena decided to quit this conversation since it didn't work out as she expected.
"Yep, just go ahead." Lena Lim caught up quickly and claimed, "I will invite some good friends to attend the dinner, too. Maybe they could prepare three desks of dishes for our family relatives and friends."
"Yes, I have some acquaintances to invite, too." Evan Hathaway was happy for the agreement of Sheena and began to talk in a relaxed and casual way as usual.
"It's up to you two." Sheena didn't want to talk about this, after all, she wouldn't invite any friends to the dinner.
"By the way, please pay some attention to Cherry." Sheena turned to Lena Lim who was writing some notes on the paper.
Lena looked up at Sheena and wandered: "What's wrong?"
Evan Hathaway leaned against the sofa while drinking in the same time. He was totally relaxed since the main target had been agreed, so he returned to the usual status of caring nothing but entertainment. Hearing the words of Sheena, he took a sip of wine and turned to looked at Sheena.
Sheena continued by ignored their reactions, "Cherry Hathaway came to me for money last night, and she did it just for her birthday party."
Although Sheena didn't expect any help from Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway, but she still wanted them to give a right attitude in this case. Sheena was an university student, too, why her sister Cherry Hathaway had come to her for the expenditure of her entertainment. This wasn't right.
However, obviously both Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway didn't take it seriously. When hearing the reason, Lena Lim smiled with relief, "I thought it were a big deal, but it turned out to be a piece of cake. You're the older sister, of course you shall do her a favor sometimes."
Evan Hathaway leaned back to the sofa and nodded his head, "Yes, since you've married Stephan Korade, what Cherry has asked from you wouldn't bother you too much, doesn't it?" Bearing a winning smile at the corner of the mouth, Lena Lim grinned ear to ear and said, "Sheena, thanks a lot for supporting Cherry to go on her happy university life."
Sheena burst into laughter, what had shocked Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway that they didn't know why she acted like this.
After a long while of laughing, Sheena stopped finally and stared at Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway with seriousness and coldness in her eyes, "It's your responsibility to support her life in university. No more money asking, otherwise all those wedding gifts would be in vain. I would just tell them not to spend a penny on us."
Witnessing the threats of Sheena, Lena Lim and Evan Hathaway were stunned for a little while. But soon, Lena Lim reacted and gave a forced smile, "it's Cherry's fault to ask you for money on such expenditures, I'll warn her and please forgive her."
"Yep," Evan Hathaway echoed, "she was just starting the university that she may be was too excited to think for twice in her behaviors. As the older sister, Sheena, please forgive her." Evan Hathaway claimed as a mature adult that Sheena had never seen on him.
However, Sheena knew she couldn't ask for more from such people like them. It's useless. She didn't think what she had warned would be just stopped, but she must do it to prevent the high frequency of such cases.
Obviously, this pair of parents had gotten her meaning right, so she knew at least in the near future she wouldn't be bothered by that spoiled younger sister.
"See you then." Sheena left the house without any hesitation.
When the call from Luis Smith came, Sheena was sitting on a bench in the park near to her home, more precisely, the house of her father.
"I'm Luis Smith, we've met for once before under the introduction of Mike Clinton. I would like to talk with you about the music album launch, if you're interested."
Sheena was remined of the meeting scene and thought for a little while before agreeing to meet in a coffee shop for the detailed communication.
This Japanese man Luis Smith looked younger in daytime than he was at night back in the club.
In fact, Sheena was not that confident to accept his offer. How could such a good luck just drop on her without any cost? Sheena just couldn't believe in it.
However, the sincerity in the eyes of this not-so-tall man had proved his seriousness.
"Are you interested in it?" Luis Smith repeated to gain back the attention of Sheena, trying to minimize the difficulties, "All you have to do is go to my studio for recording, I'll handle the rest."
Sheena had ever suspected the smoothness of the case and the frankness of this man, but she was reluctant to just reject such a chance. Maybe she could have a try...
Luis Smith stared at her with graveness, "Sheena, don't you dare to give yourself a chance of changing? It wouldn't cost you anything, right?"
The questioning of Luis Smith had made Sheena fall into thinking.
It's not hard to follow his instruction and record some songs, but what made her hesitate was Hope. The hope of getting what she wanted. The hope of being successful.
Sheena didn't know whether she could stand the disappointment if such a trying ended up in tragedy. Whether she could survive if she did it for hope and ended up in despair.
"I know it's quite suspicious to just show up and provide such an offer, but I've observed for quite a long time and I believe in what I've seen." Luis Smith clarified with confidence in his eyes, that's a kind of thing that Sheena wouldn't have ever owned.
That's a kind of confidence collected by the success in the past and the care from family and friends.
Suddenly, Sheena felt to be encouraged by the eye expression of this man newly-coming to her. Since it's just a trying, why did she have to give up before taking any actions? Since the action hadn't been started, why she had to worry about the results? Since there is a chance of making a big change, why she just yielded?
"Fine, let's make a deal for the rest of the case." Sheena nodded her head, seeing this short man in front of her burst into joys due to her agreement.
"Wait for my call! I'll prepare well before you're needed to show up and continue the rest." Luis Smith jumped up with delight and left without saying goodbye.
The coffee that he had order was till hot. Staring at that cup of coffee, Sheena couldn't help imagining the result of her agreement on this offer. Whether she would become a singer in the entertainment circle? Whether there were people loving her voice as if those in the club? Whether she would make a big fortune due to this chance?
Sheena spent the whole afternoon in that coffee shop, that's a rare case for her to spend so much time in daydreaming. However, this was the first time for Sheena to intend to stop now to think about the future.
Maybe sometimes people had to think about the path ahead instead of working hard with head down all the time without thinking deeply.
