.… 10 Seconds Before Disaster ….
"Begin."
In response to Duke Hail's words, loud rumbling sounds could be heard as three catapults and barrels filled with oiled boulders rolled forward, turning the faces of the soldiers mounted on the wall pale.
Not only were they private forces of other noble families of the Griffith Empire, but some noble family heads were even present. Has Duke Hail really gone crazy and plans to kill them all?
Was the Hail family not afraid of the retaliation of other noble families?
Will the royal family really keep silent and watch them get slaughtered?
Fear and terror filled their minds as they realized their situation. They expected Duke Hail to make a speech and threaten the forbidden palace before negotiations which would lead to Damon's release there were none.
No form of communication.
No attempt to even communicate.
They came for blood and ashes!
Ignis!
Novar mages unleashed primary fire magic on the boulders as soon as they were loaded, setting them ablaze. The war drums began, ringing loudly and shattering the eerie silence that dominated the Kingdom earlier.
Bang!
Three fiery boulders flew into the sky, descending towards the stone walls of the Forbidden Palace.
"Activate the Array of Windshear Aegis!" Madam Gi ordered calmly.
The Array of Windshear Aegis was a complex defensive magic system designed to absorb mana from the surrounding wind and convert it into powerful protective barriers around a city's walls. It was a large-scale enchantment etched into the city's walls, drawing mana continuously from the atmosphere to maintain its defenses against sieges or magical attacks.
Madam Gi's words were quickly relayed to the Novar mages strategically positioned around the activation glyph within the safety of the walls.
As soon as it was activated, the array began absorbing mana from the wind, using natural currents and atmospheric magic as its fuel source. The absorbed mana is funneled through the mana conduits engraved on the walls, directing the mana to various points where the barrier would form. Immediately the barrier nodes positioned at regular intervals along the walls lit up as mana flowed into it and as soon as it was filled with mana, a sky blue barrier was projected across the Forbidden Palace.
Boom!
Hector and Madam Gi frowned as their attention was directed towards the source of explosions within the Forbidden Palace. The ground rumbled violently as the Forbidden Palace trembled under the explosion of the underground activation glyph.
"No!" Hector gasped in shock as he instinctively turned towards the walls and watched as the barriers began vanishing just as fast as they formed.
Swish!
Three flaming boulders descended like meteors, smashing into the exposed walls. Portions of the wall crumbled, while other parts were consumed by raging fire.
Screams and cries of the dead reached the heavens, as soldiers even opted to jump off the burning walls.
Seated atop the building, Duke Hail casually gestured, signaling the continual use of the catapults.
"What happened?" Michael was stunned by the fallen walls.
Michael expected their soldiers to spend most of the night bombarding the walls with burning boulders for most of the night. He didn't expect the walls to be crushed in one move.
"I can't tell for sure, but I strongly believe it has something to do with Damon." Duke Hail smiled.
Since Damon has given them such an opportunity, why would he risk the lives of his men by attacking directly when he could obliterate them from a distance with the numerous boulders in their arsenal.
As long as he doesn't attack the main building where Damon is kept, everything should be okay.
…. Meanwhile ...
"That bitch, I knew we should have killed her. I'm certain she has something to do with this." Hector roared viciously as he watched the chaos taking place below.
Blazing boulders flew over the broken walls, hurling up the hills where the rest of the troops were located. Ashes, fire, and blood, that was all Hector could see at this moment.
Everything they had worked so hard to build was crumbling before his eyes.
"Mah!" He cried out as he turned to Madam Gi only to find her standing like a statue.
Damon's body stood, his black veins bulging everywhere. Black cracks could be seen spreading across his eyelids, while a cruel smile slowly bloomed on his face.
Buzz!
…..
[A/N: In this section, Damon will be referred to by his real name Sol, and the voice will regain his name, Damon.]
Madam Gi found herself in the middle of a raging ocean on a dark, stormy night. Her body levitated in the air, safe from the chaos of the ocean below.
Instinctively, her gaze was drawn to a black portion at the center of the Ocean. Hovering above the raging black water was a face she easily recognized.
It was the Dark Lord in his black and green robes. His wrists and ankles were bound by black chains linked to the ocean below. Behind him stood a boy who resembled the body the Dark Lord was currently inhabiting, he glared at Madam Gi disgustingly as if he had a personal vendetta against her.
"Now I understand why you are so weak. You refuse to use the soul of your host to nourish your core and give this body the nutrition it needs. To think the Dark Lord would get attached to a mortal child. I made the right choice to replace you, you have truly grown weak." Madam Gi mocked Sol fearlessly.
Even now, she dared talk down to the God of Death.
"Replace me? Do you really think I fell for your little trap?" Sol asked in a cruel tone.
Madam Gi's face twisted with a frown and she clenched her fist. Not only did the Array of Windshear Aegis fail, but she suddenly lost control of her new body and was dragged into this place.
"You would even turn on a dark race and lead them to extinction. How many Fox spirits will die because of your sabotage?" Madam Gi growled furiously.
"All of you, except one. Valysara." Sol declared indifferent. "To save one from the vigilant eyes of the Hail family, I must sacrifice all of you."
