Bloom Al Najjar is a brown or green-eyed red-haired Velvalerkyrie who is the only part-nymph child thanks to her Nymph Tatar mother with ginger hair, Daphne Awad, and her Palestinian Kazakh father, Amir Al Najjar who is a Firefly with the power of the rare dragon flame.
Velvalerkyries are women living in Velvaler, although wearing the headveils and dress modestly, they are treated equally along with men, with equal opportunities and roles. Velvaler is the realm accessed through a portal in Saudi Arabia, and is plagued by non-Winx and non-magic terrorists and extremists from the abnormal and the normal world. Saudi Arabia has kept fighting alongside with Velvaler against them, but those numbers of enemies overpowered them, and they need to seek help from progressive Persian Gulf and Post-Soviet countries, which are limited. Velvaler is now caught up in a civil war. Velvaler's culture is a mix of Middle Eastern and Post-Soviet Arabian cultures, with dry winters. There are women's coaches in the transportation of Velvaler, providing women with a higher sense of safety and security as well as adhering to tradition of occasional gender segregation. Before the civil war, it was a Persian Gulf Utopia, where there are progressive ideals while keeping some parts of their culture. There is one holiday in Velvaler where the nymphs arrived in their realm and everyone greeted them with palm leaves, followed by a banquet in the Nymph's hall with exotic performances.
Being part nymph, she is associated with spring, using her fire powers from her father to restore life just like her mother. Before Daphne and Amir got married, Amir accidentally set a fire in the kitchen of the Nymph's Hall while attempting to roast turkey with his powers, which attracts the attention of Daphne, who then heal the wounds of those who are burnt in the Nymph festival.
Daphne was a nymph who wield the most powerful dragon flame who was raised in a strong family background of old nymph money but are very generous, while Amir is a clumsy and accident-prone firefly who is sheltered most of his life because he needs to become a lawyer, although he is talented in cooking, but not allowed to use his family house's kitchen.
Daphne, understanding how hard he worked for the holiday, told him that there is a first for everything. It took months to convince their parents to approve their marriage because while Daphne's parents approved of their marriage, Amir's parents were initially hesitant, but with Amir showing his cooking talents, and Daphne's persuasion they reluctantly accept. Bloom's birth was a blessing in disguise as Amir and Daphne knew that she will be talented once she grew up, but a curse because fairies and blood witches are after Bloom for her powers and the extremists because they think she is nothing but a human weapon that will either support them or against them.
Bloom's parents have wishes for her:
- To allow her to have a normal childhood
- Not to arrange a marriage for her
A month later after Bloom is born, there is a full-scale civil war between fireflies, nymphs, their close allies and the extremists, supported by the Solarian army and blood witches. Velvaler undergo a lockdown, where they encouraged most Velvalers and Velvalerkyries to flee to Alfea as their second home, but her parents, not wanting their home realm to be destroyed stayed back and fight those who do not agree with the Velvalers' ideals for peace and harmony. It was rare for Velvaler to be involve in conflict, but their dormant military forces make them weak despite their Winx being strong because they only believed peace solves everything.
"We love you Bloom, please be safe."
Bloom was transferred to another Velvaler, while her parents fight the extremists. Unfortunately, her parents are at statis and finally dead thanks to the extremists who froze her realm with the aid of a blood witch, Sebastian Valtor. Valtor then killed the Velvaler who kept Bloom safe, then kidnapped and trafficked her, unattended after her parents' death to United States, where she swapped a baby of the parents, the Petras, who died because of her heart condition. From there, she had a normal childhood. She met Selina, a witch who is orphaned and fostered by Eldora, an archaeologist who attempts to archive ancient fairy culture. Her adoptive parents do not know that Bloom is a changeling, until she reaches puberty, where she cooked BBQ with her powers for her classmates in her elementary school graduation party and Bloom nursing her best friend who has a deep cut. Despite her powerful Dragon flame, she has delicate precision. She had then sent her to Le Cordon Bleu Academy, a middle and high school mostly focused on culinary arts, although they have high-class facilities for clubs and societies like the medic club and archery team, where Bloom is the president. Bloom was in dual enrollment in academic and vocational track, where she studies AP courses and MCAT along with culinary skills. Besides studying, she prepares fancy cuisines for special occasions to earn some pocket money and works as a part-time chef in restaurants in her free time. She met Roshanak Khalid, the specialist whose parents are neuroscientists, have the power of mind and space-time manipulation and later on, obtained Butterflix along with Bloom, a winx form which loops and enhances powers into chaos and allows time-travel. As Bloom has fully developed her powers when she was 17 years old, she graduated one years earlier than typical high schoolers and score her MCAT in flying colours. Bloom had ambitions of being a Michelin-class chef and a physician who works in real life hospitals. Archery was her only favorite sport which proves to be useful for life-threatening circumstances.
She just cooked a BBQ dinner party for her adopted family and her friends for the high school graduation party when her powers showed up.
"Wow, Bloom you burn without matches?"
"These powers might not make a physician, but a world-class chef!"
"Well, your dragon's flame makes you both a good medic and chef, you just need to control it." The mysterious person abruptly showed up to her party, and introduce herself as Giselle, the chancellor of Alfea College in Alfea Realm.
"From your academic records, your MCAT score was perfect. Does your high school have pre-med?"
"Yes, I joined pre-med, and I am also the president of St. John's Ambulance Society of Gardenia."
"Then welcome to Alfea Medical School, your parents need you to save lives in your realm."
A day after her graduation, she and her parents went to Alfea Realm to tour the campus of its college, eventually, her parents decided it was best for her to learn to control her powers in this college in order to save themselves from the potential accidental fire damage that Bloom caused. Thus, the next day, she was assigned a dorm suite one month earlier before the first semester start at Alfea University.
She then met a history of medicine professor Avalon Palladium, a normal human in Alfea and told him how to save her home realm which is a victim of civil war. Mr. Palladium was a human raised in Alfea for a long time, having a passion for history, but he wields an MBBS in a normal medical school with postgraduate degrees in medicine and history. Eventually, he talked to Giselle on Bloom and Valtor, which she then researched her origin kept this secret from Bloom until, Valtor kidnapped her, which make Chancellor Giselle guilty and remorseful.
Professor Palladium then tell Bloom the history of her captor:
"Valtor however, was the complete opposite of lucky you, Bloom. Born in the realm, Darkar, he suffered the same fate where his parents teleported him into earth while his parents fight against the Solarian Army, which brings Darkar to demise and never to be exist. Darkar is an ancient realm completely populated by blood witches and not all blood witches are evil. After the fall of Darkar, some fled to Alfea like most Velvalers and Velvalerkyries did, while others join forces with terrorists. He was then adopted and raised by a religious family called the Griffiths, which condemn any magic and Winx as a sign of the devil. He suffered from the physical and psychological abuse under the hands of his parents, mostly his father and was bullied by his foster siblings, and even his childhood religious community, until one day, during his puberty his blood magic manifest violently and he snapped the necks of his foster family, killing them all. The police then arrested Valtor but before he was in prison, he was sedated and sent to a psychiatric hospital. I was really lucky to meet him, and I have diagnosed him having:
-Dissociative Identity Disorder
-Borderline Personality Disorder
-Narcissistic Personality Disorder
-Bipolar Disorder
-Schizophrenia
-Antisocial Personality Disorder
Afterwards, he was sent to prison with bail, but he escaped earlier with his magic. It was no use pursuing him according to FBI and police, and he went to explore his heritage and tried to connect the roots but are very scarce. He initially attacked Solaria but was overpowered and sent into prison, until one day, a king of Solaria reached out to him to collaborate in exchange of helping him finding his roots, and he accepts. He actually did the same action to you when you are a baby, sending you to earth. Now, he was so jealous of you because of your healthy childhood and relationships that he never had and is out to sabotage you. You need to be careful. He has an alter ego called, "Lord Darkar", which is the sinister and cold-hearted personality that Valtor created."
