Chapter 19 - Fighting Back

When the two Rocelyn sisters were secretly competing, a group of people closer to Jessica were super surprised when she shouted, "Eclipse!"

Eclipse?

The Eclipse Rocelyn who got kicked out of the Jade Family because of rumors about her private life?

No way!

Everyone stared at the stunning woman standing there. They couldn't believe this was the same Eclipse Rocelyn from all the bad rumors they'd heard.

They were so shocked they couldn't even react.

Meanwhile, some people further away, who hadn't heard Jessica shout, were just looking at Eclipse, wondering who she was.

"Whose daughter is this? The men in Star City must be losing their minds right now!"

"I thought Jessica was pretty, but compared to this girl, Jessica doesn't even come close!"

"Is Jessica serious? Her looks and vibe are way off. Why would she go up to Eclipse like that? She looks like she doesn't even belong!"

Hearing people say she wasn't as good as Eclipse, Jessica dug her nails into her palms and tried to stay calm. She glared at Eclipse's cold, smiling face, and she was burning up with jealousy. She hated when people said she was worse than Eclipse!

Most of the women there were jealous, while all the rich guys were totally amazed by Eclipse.

Even Robert Jade, who had known Eclipse was pretty, was stunned. The Eclipse standing at the door was graceful and way more beautiful than the sickly girl he remembered, who used to have bandages on her head. Now she looked like a shining star, completely outshining every other rich girl in Star City.

Mrs. Jade wasn't surprised at all. She saw Robert's expression and sneered, "I told you before that Eclipse might be better than Jessica. Did you ever think about where her mom came from?"

But Robert had been obsessed with Jessica for too long, and he never saw anyone but her.

Eclipse hadn't been doing well before, but now it was too late. Her reputation was already ruined.

Robert tried to hold back the strange feelings rising up inside him as he started walking downstairs.

Eclipse stared at Jessica's jealous eyes for a bit, then tilted her head and smirked, "See that? Compared to me, you're so ugly, it hurts to look at you!"

After saying that, Eclipse bumped into Jessica's shoulder and walked into the room on her high heels.

Suddenly, Jessica grabbed Eclipse's wrist, raised her voice, and said sweetly, "Eclipse, I know I was wrong. I'm glad you came today—"

But at the same time, Jessica's sharp nails went straight for Eclipse's heart. If she couldn't have it, she was going to destroy it!

Eclipse sneered, dodged to the side, and then slapped Jessica hard across the face.

_SMACK—_

Everyone gasped as Jessica took the slap. Her face whipped to one side, her eyes wide with shock. How could Eclipse hit her like that?

Jessica's body went limp, and she was about to fake a fall. But before she could, Eclipse's high heel came down hard on her foot, crushing it.

"AHHH!"

Jessica screamed as she lost her balance and crashed into the fancy champagne tower.

With a loud crash, the beautiful tower of champagne came tumbling down, shattered into a pile of glass.

Everyone watched as Jessica lay in the middle of the broken glass, soaked in drinks and looking totally humiliated.

Her dress was ruined, her hair a mess, and her skin was covered in little cuts from the glass.

Someone in the crowd whispered, "Eclipse!"

The sound of the glass tower shattering was so loud that everyone turned to see what had happened.

For a moment, the entire hall was silent. Then, a clear, confident voice broke through the quiet, "Jessica, you've been pulling this same stunt for over a decade. Don't you feel embarrassed? I'm already tired of it!"

Everyone stared at the beautiful woman standing over Jessica. She was smiling, but her eyes were cold.

Suddenly, two voices shouted, "Jessica!"

Mrs. Rocelyn and Robert rushed toward her. Robert helped Jessica up, and when he saw her covered in injuries, he glared at Eclipse, "Eclipse!"

Mrs. Rocelyn, seeing her daughter hurt, didn't think twice. She raised her hand and tried to slap Eclipse, "You little brat!"

But Eclipse stepped back, and Mrs. Rocelyn's hand hit nothing but air. She glared at Eclipse like she wanted to tear her apart.

Eclipse just smirked, her eyes cold. "Mrs. Rocelyn, you're just a mistress who stole someone else's place. How dare you insult the real Rocelyn heiress in public? Who do you think you are?"

Mrs. Rocelyn was so mad she was about to shout back, but Jessica quickly raised her hand to stop her. "Mom, it was my fault. It has nothing to do with Eclipse."

Jessica stood up shakily, pushing Robert away. Her foot throbbed with pain, the mark from Eclipse's heel clear on her shoe.

Even so, Jessica smiled at Eclipse, pretending to be kind. "Eclipse, I'm glad you're here with the Jade Family today. Dad's really worried about you. After Mr. Lu's birthday, let's go home together."

Eclipse's eyes went icy, and she sneered, "But I don't want to see your fake, ugly face. If Mr. Lu hadn't personally begged me to come, I wouldn't even be here."

Jessica and Robert's faces both twisted in shock.

Finally, the crowd started to react to what had just happened.

"Oh my gosh, is that Eclipse? The one who got kicked out of the Jade Family? I thought she was supposed to be ugly!"

"I can't believe she's the Rocelyn family's useless daughter! This is nothing like the rumors."

"What's the point of being pretty if you have a bad heart?"

"How could she show up at the Jade Family event and bully Jessica like that? This is way too much!"

"With daughters and fiancées like this, both the Rocelyn and Jade families are doomed!"

Robert saw Jessica being treated like this and couldn't stand it anymore. His face turned red as he glared at Eclipse, "Apologize to Jessica!"

Eclipse just smiled. "Apologize? Does she even deserve it?"
