Eclipse gave a slight smile. "Apologize? Is she even worth it?"
Even though she smiled, her face showed no kindness, only mockery.
Robert grabbed Jessica's hand and glared at Eclipse. "Eclipse!"
Eclipse held a glass of red wine, looking down on the three people below her. She smiled, but there wasn't any fun in her eyes. "I think Mr. Benjamin needs to get his eyes checked."
She pointed at Jessica. "She's the daughter of a mistress, the one who made my mom hate my dad, and now she's taken over my dad, my home, my name as First Miss Rocelyn, and my fiancé. She's done all kinds of bad things, yet acts like she's innocent and sweet..."
"And now you dare to ask me, the victim, to apologize to her? Robert, are you really that dumb? Do you even have a brain?"
Jessica leaned weakly on Robert's chest, crying as Eclipse's words hurt her deeply.
Robert's face was red with anger. He looked like he wanted to scream at Eclipse. "You're nothing but a wild animal, always blaming others for your problems and wondering why nobody likes you. Eclipse, don't you have any shame?"
The other women in the room began to murmur in agreement.
"Mr Robert is right. Before accusing Miss Jessica, can you explain those photos?"
"Some people are really fake. They should look at their own actions before pointing fingers."
"What's the point of being pretty if your heart is ugly?"
Eclipse looked at the women, her eyes cold. They were all Jessica's friends.
It's normal to be jealous, especially when someone you thought was ugly suddenly looks beautiful.
That kind of change messes with people's heads. They wanted to rip apart Eclipse's pride and make her feel small, so they could laugh and stomp all over her.
They stood behind Jessica, their eyes filled with jealousy.
Eclipse smiled slightly and looked at Robert. "Is it that I have no shame, or are you two just disgusting?"
Robert's anger was clear, but Eclipse didn't care. She tilted her head and sneered, her voice soft but cold. "As my fiancé, on my birthday, you were with Jessica. When I was sick, you were with Jessica. When I needed you, you were with Jessica."
She paused, her smile fading. "You've given her clothes, bags, and makeup. What have you ever given me?"
Eclipse's gaze turned sharp, her voice colder than ever. "My fiancé spends all his time with my stepsister, and then has the nerve to say I should be more understanding. Robert, do you really think you have the right to judge me?"
Robert looked away, guilt flashing across his face.
Jessica looked panicked, her eyes red. "It's not like that, Eclipse. Mr. Robert and I are innocent. We never did anything to hurt you..."
But Eclipse wasn't buying it. "Innocent? Really? I don't believe a word you say."
Robert's face twisted with anger. "Eclipse, you're just cheap! I'm in a real relationship with Jessica, who is kind and gentle, unlike you. You'll be with any man who shows interest!"
Eclipse laughed, her eyes cold. "I'd rather be with anyone than be stuck with you."
Robert yelled, "Get out!"
Eclipse smiled, not really caring. "Don't worry, I have no interest in being part of your Jade family."
With that, she turned to leave.
Jessica watched her go, a small smile creeping onto her face.
Robert was still in shock as Eclipse walked away.
Before he could say anything, he heard a loud, angry voice. "Robert!"
He turned to see his mom, Mrs. Jade, fuming.
Realizing what he had done, his face went pale.
Mrs. Jade was shaking with anger. She had arrived just a little too late, and in his foolishness, Robert had ruined everything she had planned so carefully.
Mrs. Jade pointed toward the door Eclipse had left through and glared at Robert. "Go apologize to Eclipse!"
Jessica's smile disappeared.
She tried to say something, but Mrs. Jade looked at her coldly. "Jessica, Robert is engaged to Eclipse, and you were hanging on to him in front of her. Don't you think that's inappropriate?"
Jessica went pale, pulling her hand away from Robert. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Jade. I didn't mean to..."
Robert looked at her with pity, but then he turned to where Eclipse had gone and called out angrily, "Eclipse, wait!"
Before, no matter what he did, if he called, Eclipse would always come back.
But this time, Eclipse didn't even look back. She was done.
Robert's face darkened.
Mrs. Jade watched as Eclipse got farther away, realizing that the 20% of the company shares they had hoped for were now gone.
She raised her hand and slapped Robert, hard.
The sound echoed through the room, leaving everyone stunned.
Even Jessica was shocked.
Mrs. Jade hurried after Eclipse. "Eclipse, I punished that idiot for you! I know it's all his fault. Please give him another chance..."
But Eclipse just stepped away, dodging her touch.
Her face was cold as she looked at Mrs. Jade. "A smart person doesn't go back to a rotten old field, and that's exactly what your family is."
