I was surprised when the man came into my room.
"Sorry if I startled you, I just wanted to see how you were doing," he said.
I replied nervously, "I've been better.
The man approached me slowly. "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Jack Clifford, Alpha of the Black Moon Pack."
Hearing that name, I spontaneously looked down, feeling rude for looking directly into the Alpha's eyes when I was only a stranger.
Jack continued, "I was also the one who saved you from the rogues last night." Felix, the wolf in him, seemed to comment, "Why only you? Didn't I tell you?"
Jack exclaimed, "Actually, it was Felix who told me about you.
I remained silent, still confused. "Thanks for saving me."
Jack nodded, I guess he was nervous too, he had been so focused on taking care of the pack that he didn't know how to approach a girl, including his own mate.
"Felix is my wolf side, of course he is most sensitive when our mate is in danger," Jack explained.
"I'm Isabella Anderson, Alpha can call me Bella or Isabella," I said.
I could see Jack smile with restraint.
"After I recover, can I leave here?" I asked, causing his face to change instantly.
Jack came over to me and took both of my hands in his. "Why leave? You are my mate, the future Luna of the Black Moon Pack."
Immediately I remembered how Xavier had treated me, at the beginning of our meeting he had chased after me very much, but now he dumped me, saying that I was very strange, weak and useless.
Who would have thought that Xavier was only using me for his own interests, and after everything was done, he turned away from me without even touching me.
Jack pulled me out of my reverie. "What's going on? Why the silence, Bell?"
I looked into his tear-filled eyes. "Aren't I strange?"
Jack shook his head. "No, not at all."
"Liar! You can clearly see the color of my very white hair. I'm strange, I can't even switch to the wolf side. I can't even feel her presence or her voice!" I said, shedding tears.
Jack slowly wiped them away, even stroking my cheeks. "No Bell, you're not strange at all. In fact, you're very unique and beautiful," Jack complimented me.
I was speechless because it was the first time I had ever received a compliment from anyone. But when I remembered how much I lacked in myself, I felt insecure.
I let go of his hand and took a deep breath. "I'm ready to be rejected."
"I would never do that, why would you..."
Jack's words were interrupted when I said, "My mate rejected me and even left me stranded overnight, no one likes me because they all think I'm weird and useless. I don't want that to happen again, so instead of waiting for them to kick me out, I'd better volunteer."
Jack heard Felix roar, as if they felt the same pain.
Seconds later, Jack took me into his warm embrace, my heart trembling at our natural bond.
"I will never let you go, Isabella. Forever you will be my mate and my Luna, I don't care if you can't shape-shift or just because your hair is white. I don't care if you are weak, because I am strong enough to protect you and our pack.
His words touched me and I cried into his arms.
"You've been waiting for me for a long time, how could I throw you out," Jack said.
Then I let go of his embrace and looked into Jack's blue eyes, which were slowly turning red.
"Don't leave us, Bella," Jack said in a different voice and I knew it was Felix, the wolf side Jack had told me about.
"I-I don't know," I said, still not trusting Jack or Felix.
Eyes turning blue again, Jack exhaled. "It's okay if you can't trust me yet, but stay here, because I don't want you to wander around out there, it's not safe for you."
I nodded. "Alright..."
Jack looked sad. "I'm going to try to get you to trust me, Bella. Because when I met you, I was already in love."
I remained silent without answering his words, not without a reason. First, I had just been heartbroken by Xavier and Daisy's betrayal, second, I was useless and didn't want to be a burden to anyone, third, I was afraid that Jack would get bored with me and end up doing the same thing Xavier did to me, I wasn't ready to be rejected a second time.
But before he left, Jack kissed my forehead, which made me realize it immediately.
"Get well soon," he said and left me alone.
I went to a window in the room and stared out. The view of the huge garden soothed my eyes.
At the Blue Moon Pack, Xavier was holding a meeting with the pack leaders. But Xavier seemed unfocused, judging by his eyes, which seemed to be thinking about something.
Kevin, the Gamma, seemed to be exchanging glances with Jason, the Beta.
"What's up, Alpha?" Jason asked him.
Xavier came to his senses. "Nothing, I guess I'm just too tired and need some rest. We'll continue the discussion tonight, I have to go back to the room this afternoon."
Jason and Kevin just nodded, although they found it strange that Xavier did not usually act like this when they were discussing security strategies.
Xavier left with several bodyguards following him. On the way, Xavier argued constantly with his wolf side, Jayden.
"I never agreed with you about rejecting Isabella, but for the sake of your selfishness, you forgot that I have a right to you and Isabella as well," Jayden said in his mind.
Xavier replied, "That's because she's useless! She's weak and strange, I don't want to be the food of my subjects and subordinates".
"We should find out instead of looking for a replacement," Jayden grumbled.
"Shut up, I've made up my mind," Xavier snapped.
Jayden couldn't take it, because he felt what Xavier was feeling, so he burst out laughing. "You liar! You think I'm stupid, I can feel the loss and pain in your heart."
"Shut up," Xavier snapped, immediately breaking the connection between their minds.
With sure steps he entered his room with the bodyguards, who immediately rushed to stand guard outside the room.
