Eugene sprang forward again, slamming into the vampire with all the force he could muster. The impact drove them both backward, snow scattering as their bodies collided midair. He didn't let up this time and pushed upward like a battering ram, every muscle in his body straining against the creature's resistance. His claws dug deep for leverage, tearing through tissue and sinew as they grappled.
The vampire thrashed in his grip, its claws raking at his face and arms while it twisted to break free. Eugene barely noticed the wounds anymore; whatever part of him that should've been concerned with pain wasn't in control. All that mattered was keeping the momentum going—forcing it back one step at a time.
The terrain shifted beneath them as they fought, the uneven ground sloping downward toward the sound of rushing water. Eugene adjusted his footing, driving his weight forward to keep pressing the creature closer to the edge of the falls.
