Kazuo's palms were slick with sweat as he gripped the pistol, following Siobhàn through the cramped ventilation system. The metal was cold against his skin, and every clang of their movements made him wince.
"Shit," he whispered. "Why'd you have to kill those two mercs back there?"
Siobhàn glanced back at him. "They were in our way. It was them or us."
Kazuo swallowed hard, trying to push away the image of the bodies. "And that explosion earlier? Was that your doing too?"
"Yeah," Siobhàn replied, pausing at a junction in the vents. "Set up some enchantment mines while you were out getting groceries. Figured we might need the extra security."
"Fuck," Kazuo muttered. "You really thought this through, huh?"
Siobhàn shrugged. "It's my job to stay alive. Now shut up and keep moving."
