Kazuo squeezed his eyes shut and braced for the inevitable hail of bullets.
The mech's minigun whirred to life, its barrel spinning faster and faster.
Everything went dark.
Then, something unexpected happened.

A slashing sound cut through the air, followed by the clang of metal hitting the ground.
Kazuo's eyes snapped open and saw the mech's gun on the ground as it was neatly sliced in two.
This was unbelievable. A miracle even. But how? One second, he'd been staring death in the face. The next, his seemingly invincible foe was disarmed. It felt surreal, like a glitch in reality. Who or what could slice through a mech's weapon like it was made of butter?
