MORGANA
I woke up this morning feeling like the weight of the world was on my shoulder. It's been days, I had asked Emily about Xavier and his fiancée and I could still feel the weight of the disappointment in my body.
I was weak for days and I still couldn't figure out what I should do in this park where Xavier had literally abandoned me. I fell sick and I was grateful for Emily and Sally who would always make my day worth it. It's been two weeks now and I still haven't heard from Xavier. I was beginning to think that I should have left Moonstone Park but I didn't let the thoughts linger in my head.
Whenever I looked out through my window I sae a certain garden that looked like the one at Moonstone. It was such a beautiful place to me and I wanted to experience it too. I wanted to leave my room so I asked Emily to take me to the garden downstairs and she did.
As I stepped into the garden, the warm sunlight danced across my face. The scent of blooming flowers filled my nostrils and I breathed in deeply letting the tension on her shoulders ease up. The sweet fragrance reminded me so much of the Palace at Moonstone which was my safe spot. So many times, I felt like dying, I had gone there and received some strength to come back and face it all.
"The sunflowers are my favorite." Emily said.
"Really?" I asked her. Just like me, she was excited to leave the room and finally receive some air too. We were still talking about some flowers when a man passed us by. I didn't really care who he was but then he stopped walking and walked back to where I and Emily were standing.
"Hello." He greeted me. He was just wearing a casual blue shirt and his dark hair falling across his shoulder. He looked really handsome and well kept too, looking at how neat his footwear was.
"Hi. I answered, smiling back at him. I waited for him to stretch out his hand and probably do an introduction but he stared at me like there was something on my face.
"Whats wrong? Is something on my face?" I asked, touching my face lightly to be sure.
"Something that you can't take out, unfortunately." He said, smiling at me. I was a bit surprised, that I turned to Emily so she could help me get whatever it was out of my face.
Emily shrugged to tell me that there was nothing on my face, then I heard the young man laughing.
"Don't mind me. Beauty."
"What?"
"Beauty, thats what's on your face." He said and then I understood what he was trying to point out. His limes didn't seem romantic enough but it made me laugh.
"Thank you." I said, not sure if I appreciated his compliment though.
"I don't think I have seen you at the Palace before though, could you introduce yourself." He said. He had this courage and aura around him that I appreciated. He was the first person that was speaking to me, politely since I had been here.
I didn't know how to describe myself to him but I had to say something. "My name is Morgana and I'm Xavier's friend."
He was shocked to hear that, his face showed that. That was when I guessed that Xavier hadn't told anyone about me and who I was. Was he hiding me? I wondered suddenly getting worried.
"Xavier knows you're here? Wow. I'm shocked to know that Xavier has a friend, it's been long anyone visited him in this Palace." He said. "You guys must be close, since you call him by his first name."
I wanted to tell him that I and Xavier has just met like days ago but I felt it was an unnecessary answer. I wanted to continue with my little tour but it seemed like the young man was interested in still speaking to me.
"Why don't your maids go upstairs, I'll be honoured if I take you round the Palace, myself. I looked at him, trying to not blush at his words. He offered me his hands. "You should hold on to me, this is going to be a sloppy ride." He responded.
I took his hands, admiring how funny and good witted he was. I wondered if he was Xavier's friend or his colleagues, probably.
"You didn't tell me your name." I said to him looking at his face. "Go on. Introduce yourself so I'm sure I'm not speaking to a ghost." I laughed.
"A ghost? Do those things exist?" He asked but without waiting for an answer, he spoke up again. "My name is Elijah. I'm just a simple young man as you can see."
We were now walking back to the garden, the exact place I had walked with Emily. There was just something about him that made us comnect very quickly. He told me about the Palace and I was so surprised that he knew so much about the Palace.
"You know so much."
"Well, you can say that I'm very smart." Elijah smiled at me and then looked at his wrist watch. "I'm sorry, I have to go but would you love to have dinner with me?.."
"Morgana?"
I was going to say yes since we didn't finish our conversation maybe because he had work or something but a deep familiar voice interrupted him. Xavier stood there, shock written all over his face, like he was scared for me.
"What are you doing?" He asked. At that moment, I snatched my hands from Elijah who stared back at me, not really understanding what was happening. Anyone who had seem the scene would think that I had cheated on Xavier with Elijah and he had caught me red handed too. It was crazy too.
"Xavier, man. I was about going to the office to see you. Are you ready to leave now?" Elijah asked but he couldn't seem to get the attention of Xavier because he was staring so intently at me.
