Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

It had been three weeks and there was no sign of the faceless girl. Where was she? Andrew had used the best of his resources to look for the girl from that night. He could not just believe that someone could just disappear from the face of the earth. Where was she?

He had even begun acting crazy according to Dawn. He would sniff the air for her scent whenever they came across a pretty girl. Dawn was so exasperated with his friend that he had no idea how to help him. Unfortunately, all the CCTV footage from that night had been corrupted and there was no trace of the girl.

A valet had however agreed he had seen a girl leave the club in the early hours of the morning but he could not describe her so there was a stalemate.

To make matters worse, Andrew was beginning to have sleepless nights affecting everyone around him.

He was so irritable that even his beloved step mother could not get through to him.

Sasha, his steady girlfriend of more than two years, was gradually running out of patience. Andrew had been out of town for almost a month and she had been eagerly waiting for their reunion .

Suddenly, Andrew could not get it up again. They had not made love and everytime they were together , Andrew could not live up to his name. No matter how many times and ways she tempted him, Andrew's dick remained flacid. On one occasion, Sasha had to bluntly ask him.

"What is happening Drew? Have you become impotent?" which left Andrew totally shattered. What was really happening to him?

From then on, Andrew and Dawn embarked on several escapades , trying to find out what was really wrong with Andrew and no matter what they did, Andrew could not get it up for any girl , no matter what kind of girl it was: beautiful, ughly, old, young , name it. They tried everything.

It looked as if Andrew's body had a mind of its own.

All the while, Andrew's father had no idea what was going on with his only son. He only noticed his son did not look happy but never thought it was a health issue. Until Andrew had to open up to his father.

" Father, I think I might actually be sick," Andrew told his father who looked surprised at his healthy looking son.

"And what seems to be the problem son?" He looked him over. "You look quite alright to me." Ernest Anderson told his son, with a smile.

"Father, it's a delicate matter," Andrew said uncomfortably. He had never been this uncomfortable in the presence of his father since he was five years old.

"What's wrong Drew? You can tell me anything." His father told him standing up from where he was sitting and moved to his son, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Father, I cannot seem to get it up any more. I need to consult a specialist." Understanding dawned in his father's eyes.

"You mean…?" he asked, looking down the front of his son's trousers. Andrew nodded, feeling embarrassed.

"How did it happen son? Have you…?" He stopped,

"Yes father I have tried several women. It's not working."

" Okay son, you don't need to be worried. I will call the best specialists in the world. Let's start with Brad, you know he is one of the best."

"Yes I know." Right there, his father started making the call. "Yes Brad, come right away,"

Ernest Anderson ended the call and looked at his son who looked as if his world had come to an end. He moved to his side and gave him a tight hug.

"It is well son, everything will be okay."

Thinking about it, this is the first time my son allowed me to give him a hug since his mother passed away. He had always depended on Emile, never me. Ernest hugged his only son tighter to him. Trying to absorb his pain. Will everything ever be alright with Andrew?

And so the cure for Andrew's seemingly impotence began. All the doctors, top specialists , brought from all over the word were confused. There was nothing physiologically wrong with Andrew. Could it be his mind?

Another search began. Top psychiatrists from the country and abroad were invited and rigorous psychological exercises prescribed.

No matter how many treatments were given, Andrew never seemed to be okay. Finally, he was declared impotent.

Gradually, his life changed. Sasha , his girlfriend left him saying he could not stay or marry an impotent man, not even for his money.

With encouragement, Andrew slowly began to live again. The love of his family made him strong and the encouragement from his friend Dawn, helped him regain a bit of his self esteem.

Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine himself in such a situation but a niggling thought once in a while drops into his mind. If only he could meet that girl once, if only … but never did he imagine that his predicament had anything to do with that girl from that night .

All he had were bittersweet memories. After that night, he had never been able to make love to another woman again. She had carried with her all his dreams and much more… where was she? Why had he never been able to find her?

Andrew gradually began to live again, quietly putting all his energy into his work.

It's been two months already and he was not feeling any better. He began to resign himself to the truth that he would never be whole again. And surely he would never be able to find the girl who had given him such happiness for such a brief period of time.

He would hold unto the memories and hopefully get to meet her on the other side of life . He will surely ask her, why she had cheated him so badly in this lifetime and if there was a second chance, he would hold onto her so tightly and never let her go. He dared to hope if the Written Word was true, in the other life, his bodily functions would be restored.

Andrew looked at the bright sky from the balcony of his apartment and smiled deprecatingly at his thought.

Just imagine him, the great Andrew Anderson, philosophizing, and even believing in the Holy Book. But what could he do? Hope was all he had left in his world. He had to hope , hope and hope again.
