Chapter 28 - ch28- Rising Threat

In front of Alex appeared three new daily quests:

- F-Class Daily Quest: Defeat Lesser Blade Fiends (0/10)

- E-Class Daily Quest: Defeat Greater Blade Fiend (0/1)

- E-Class Daily Quest: Destroy a Bellos Crystal near the base (0/1)

Unlike the previous base establishment mission, these had the words "Daily Series" added to their title. The difficulty didn't seem too high, and Alex guessed that they'd likely get similar quests each day moving forward.

After grabbing breakfast for his classmates, Alex returned to the classroom and woke up the others. The poor sleep quality from last night left Matt and the others in sour moods, but the breakfast Alex provided helped soothe their frustrations.

While eating, Alex informed them about the new quests from Quinn. Just as he finished, Quinn's booming voice echoed across the school, announcing the same missions to everyone.

This news caused some panic within the school, especially since the blessing stones they had used yesterday had worn off. Those who hadn't awakened their powers felt helpless, knowing they couldn't stand a chance against the monsters.

With communications cut off and numerous failed expeditions from the day before, the school administration decided not to organize any more large-scale missions. Instead, they called on those who had awakened powers to gather at the school's entrance and help defend against potential monster attacks.

In Alex's class of over thirty students, more than twenty had successfully awakened their powers. After a brief discussion, the group decided that those who hadn't awakened would stay behind. This left about ten girls and three boys in the classroom, while the remaining twenty students, led by Alex, headed to the school gates.

Compared to the previous day, more people had responded to the call. In less than ten minutes, over two hundred people had gathered at the entrance. Considering that some were still resting or eating, this turnout was impressive.

The sight of twenty uniformed students walking together, with Alex and two others carrying large, menacing blades, drew attention from the crowd. Those who had fought alongside Alex the previous day were especially intrigued, having witnessed firsthand his incredible strength.

As usual, Matt and Tanya handled the attention with ease. The duo brushed off some unwanted attention with witty banter, while others looked to Alex, sensing something special about him.

"Keep staring at me, and I'll start throwing punches!" Alex growled, annoyed by the lingering gazes, causing Chris and the others to burst into laughter.

Having someone as powerful as Alex, an SR-class powerhouse, made the group feel invincible. They didn't expect much danger.

At the school entrance, a few teachers were organizing the defenses. When they saw Alex's group arrive, their faces lit up. The teachers already knew Alex's squad had been instrumental in yesterday's success. However, one teacher, Mr. Kent, couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Why did you bring the girls? This isn't some show!" he scolded, clearly worried.

"Don't worry, Mr. Kent. We know what we're doing," Matt said nonchalantly, brushing off the concern and leading the group outside the gate. The other students were taken aback. They had assumed Alex's group had come to help defend, not head out to hunt monsters themselves.

Before Mr. Kent could say more, two wandering creatures had already spotted the group outside the school. Unlike the previous day, where the school gates constantly attracted monsters, today, due to the hidden crystal's effects, only four or five monsters roamed nearby. Two had noticed Alex's group, while three were farther off.

For some of the girls, it was their first time seeing these creatures up close. The monstrous and grotesque forms of the blue blade fiends terrified them, and a few shrieks echoed in panic. Tanya and Matt immediately hushed the frightened girls with sharp whispers.

"Hold the line! I'll handle this!" Alex said calmly, raising his blade and charging toward the two monsters.

Despite the slight reduction in his agility stat from yesterday, Alex quickly noticed that the blade fiends seemed slightly faster. However, the difference was minimal. In front of the nervous group, Alex met the two monsters head-on. He purposely blocked one of their attacks before countering with a powerful slash.

The shriek of pain was loud and sharp as Alex's blade cleaved through one of the fiends, nearly halving its health in one strike. The attack was so powerful that the creature's arm, along with its scythe-like blade, was severed clean off.

Alex marveled at the sharpness of his new weapon, the **Violet Edge**, and instinctively followed up with a second strike. The second blow sliced the monster clean in half, ending its life.

The ease with which Alex dispatched the creature left him slightly stunned, but the shock was greater among those watching from the school gate. For those who hadn't seen Alex in action the day before, this display of power was almost unbelievable. Even the girls from Alex's class, despite having heard of his strength, were left speechless.

"Are these monsters really that weak?" Sarah muttered in disbelief.

Tanya rolled her eyes, snapping back, "Weak? Hardly! Alex is just a freak of nature!"

The remaining monster didn't stand a chance as Alex skillfully kept it at bay. He noticed that its attack had only taken 3 points off his health—slightly more damage than yesterday, indicating the creatures were stronger, but still not enough to pose a real threat to him.

Thanks to his newly upgraded **Violet Edge**, Alex's regular attacks were now much more powerful. Even without using his abilities, his damage output was as high as when he had used his **Power Strike** skill the day before. This realization filled Alex with quiet confidence.

And, to his surprise, killing just one blue blade fiend granted him 80% experience points, which was a shock.
