Chapter 33 - ch33- Arena Challenge

Of course, Dean and the others knew their success was mostly due to having a super-powered lucky charm like Alex in their group.

Tanya remembered the slightly bewildered expression Quinn had when he saw them with so many awakening stones again. Any thought of comparing fortunes was long gone.

Back in the classroom, Alex distributed 15 R-level awakening stones among Dean and the others. Tanya, who rarely blushed, felt a bit embarrassed when they learned from Quinn that each R-level awakening stone was worth an astronomical 200,000 points.

Given that Tanya only had around 100,000 points, she couldn't even afford one stone. Alex, after some thought, suggested splitting the R-level stones equally among the group, giving everyone a better shot at awakening an R-level divine ability.

After distributing the stones, Alex proposed that whenever they obtained more R-level awakening stones, he would take 25% of the total, ensuring fairness for future gains.

Moreover, Tanya and the others had asked Quinn and discovered that when using R-level awakening stones for a second awakening, they wouldn't need ten stones—only N-level stones required that many.

This bit of news had Dean on the verge of tears, as his earlier attempts at awakening had failed. He could only watch in nervous excitement as Matt and the others prepared for their second awakenings.

The 15 R-level stones were divided among the guys and girls, with 10 stones going to the guys and 5 to the girls. Although the distribution seemed uneven, the girls didn't mind as the guys had been more involved in combat.

To everyone's surprise, only two people were lucky enough to awaken R-level potential during the second round—Sarah and Luke.

After their second awakenings, both Sarah and Luke's abilities changed. Sarah's *Vine Bind* evolved into *Thorn Strike* and *Pollen Mist,* while Luke gained *Air Cannon* and *Low Glide.*

Now, Alex's class had four people with R-level potential and Alex himself with SR-level potential. In terms of both individual and collective power, Alex's class had become the dominant force at the Haven High School outpost.

Compared to the early confusion when the "game" started, the atmosphere in the classroom was much livelier today. A full day of victories had everyone adapting to their new reality.

At 7 PM, Quinn's voice echoed through the school: "Thank you for your efforts today! Thanks to everyone's hard work, all the Belos creatures near the outpost have been eradicated. Tonight, we'll have a peaceful rest!"

Most of the school was confused by this announcement. Many hadn't even ventured out to fight monsters, so how could the task be completed? They soon realized that while the mission text in their task menu had dimmed, there were no rewards or additional items in their inventory.

Only Alex's team and a few others who had actively hunted monsters and completed daily tasks saw the "completed" status next to their tasks. Still, there were no rewards yet—it seemed those would only come after all the daily missions were finished.

After a brief pause, Quinn's voice boomed once more: "Starting tonight, the City Combat Arena event will officially begin at 8 PM!"

At the same time, Alex and the others received a system prompt explaining the details of the arena event:

---

**City Combat Arena Rules:**

1. Participants include all awakened players and advanced Belos monsters within the city limits.

2. Each participant gets five matches per day. Winning grants 3,000 points per match.

3. Participants have three chances to lose.

4. In battles between players of the same faction (human or Belos), no one will 'die.'

5. After three seconds into a match, participants may forfeit if they choose.

6. The arena runs for seven days, from 8 PM to 11 PM each night. Any player who achieves 35 consecutive wins earns the right to participate in the Global Combat Arena.

---

After giving everyone a couple of minutes to absorb the information, Quinn added some final encouragement: "This event is an excellent opportunity to hone your combat skills. Winners will not only gain a substantial amount of points, but you will also encounter players from other outposts and learn from them. Don't worry about losing—unless you face a hostile Belos monster, defeat doesn't mean death. If you encounter an overwhelming opponent, you have time to forfeit and exit safely. Trust me, this arena will greatly benefit your growth!"

The sudden announcement of a "game event" left most of the school confused. Many people hesitated, but some were eager to give it a try.

For Alex's group, there was no question—they were definitely participating. Yet, there was something strange about competing in a "game event" in the real world.

Dean and the others were practically bouncing with excitement. By 8 PM, their entire class was gathered near the school's field.

As monster attacks had caused most communication devices to fail, the school's electrical systems were still miraculously working. Under the bright floodlights, the field was packed with more people than Alex had seen in days. Even those who hadn't awakened divine abilities were curious and had come to watch.

After the huge awakening stone sale earlier that day, Alex's class had become somewhat famous. People knew they were powerful, and when the group arrived at the field, the crowd parted to give them space.

This special treatment made the group chuckle. When they reached Quinn, the guide even greeted them with a friendly nod.

At 8 PM sharp, Quinn floated into the air and announced, "The first City Combat Arena is now open! Between 8 and 11 PM, simply click 'Join Match' to enter the arena!"

Hearing Quinn's words, most people remained puzzled, while those who had awakened like Alex received the system prompt: "Would you like to participate in the City Combat Arena event?"

Without hesitation, Alex clicked "Join."

In an instant, he felt a mysterious force pulling him away from the school field. When the sensation subsided, he found himself standing in an expansive arena, ready for battle.
