Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO

The person at the door was none other than my cousin Layla. She always comes during her free time to keep me company. She's also the reason I know a lot about the school she attends. She also helped in convincing my parents to take me to school, even though it's not the famous Crownstar High. She hates the idea of anyone being homeschooled, but it all fell on deaf ears as expected.

I saw her holding a package, and my eyes were fixed on it. I wasn't even paying attention to the fact that she was singing Happy Birthday for me. I grabbed the package and opened it. I saw "Happy birthday, my darling" from my mom, cousin, and dad. I saw the other letter; it was the letter of acceptance from Crowdstar High to take their exam.

"Dear Andrea Wexler, you have been successfully accepted by Crowdstar High to take the entrance exam."

I asked her how she did it, and she said she was good at her convincing skill, and it eventually paid off.

Layla encouraged me to pass the exam so I could get my admission letter to the school.

I was so excited because this was the best news I had received in a long time. I promised I was going to do my best.

I called my dad; my mom was there too. I told them how happy I was and thanked them.

Layla said she was taking me out as my birthday treat. I quickly ran upstairs to my room, took out my pink polo and jeans trousers, brushed my hair, and left it to fall. I went down the stairs to the living room where Layla was.

We got outside and entered Layla's car. She's 18 and legal to drive.

Her car roared down the street of Strøget in the city of Copenhagen. We stopped at a restaurant, ate to our peak, and then drove back home.

Layla called her parents and told them she was sleeping over; yeah, sometimes she sleeps over.

When it was 8 pm, we turned on the TV. I brought out a bowl of popcorn, and we ate while watching TV.

It was 11 pm, and I was feeling sleepy. I went to bed, also remembering that I had an exam to write tomorrow. I didn't even shower; I fell on my queen size bed and slept off.

The sound of my alarm woke me up, so I got up and quickly glanced through some of my books.

It was already 8 am on Friday. I checked my mail, and I was to start my exam by 9 am, so I quickly ran to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and had my bath. I rubbed my cream and threw on a navy blue polo and black shorts. It was already 8:45 am.

Layla woke up and came to my room with sleepy eyes. She wished me good luck. I turned on my phone and waited patiently. It was already 8:53 am. I went through the process when it was 9 am; the online screening exam was conducted, and we finished by 10:15 am.

I went to the living room; Layla had already ordered pizza. I took a slice, and she asked how it went. I told her we are waiting for our scores, which will be out by noon. I was kind of nervous, but I kept it cool.

My phone rang; it was my dad. I picked up the call; my mom was there, too. They asked me how I was doing and how the exam went. I told them about it, and we ended the call.

Mrs. Nolan did her duty this morning already; the house was sparkling as usual. I went to hug her; she's more like an aunt to me. I told her to wish me good luck, and she did.

It was already 11:59 am; Layla and I were counting the seconds. I could tell she was worried about me; I had never been this nervous in a while. It was noon. I went to my Gmail, refreshed it, and saw the mail from Crowdstar High School. I clicked it to see my score; it was over 100. Layla and I were dumbfounded and speechless at the score we saw.
