As soon as Alex ended the call, he noticed Sophia's hostility. At first, he thought she didn't like the hotdogs, but after a glance at her, he could tell that she seemed to be scared of something.
Alex smiled, his expression friendly. "How are you enjoying the whinnies?" He asked.
However, Sophia kept mute. She didn't know if she could trust him anymore.
"What's the matter?" Alex asked his expression concerned.
However, Sophia just shook her head. "That call, was he just going to resell me or something?" Sophia said to herself.
"Nothing? For a moment, you seemed a bit lively, and now you're as quiet as a basement; what's the matter?" Alex asked, his voice etched with concern. "did I say something wrong?"
Sophia didn't know how to respond. She wanted to ask him about the call, but of course, she didn't trust that he'd tell her the truth.
"If there's anything on your mind, feel free to tell me about it," Alex said. "I told you earlier, I'm not gonna hurt you."
"What's the matter with her?" The Uber driver asked, taking a glance at them through the mirror.
"It's nothing, just drive," Alex replied.
Sophia sat in silence for a while. Finally, she spoke. "Please, don't hurt me, I've already been through alot," She sobbed.
Alex's face turned emotional. "I would never hurt you, and why would you even think I would?" He asked, his voice filled with emotions.
"T-The call... It sounded like you have bad plans for me," Sophia said.
"That was my mom," Alex replied, a warm smile spreading on his face. "She has been on my neck the whole day. She wants me to get married as soon as possible… You know how moms are, don't you?"
Tears streamed down Sophia's cheeks. "Moms? Sorry, I don't. I never got to experience the joy of being in a teal family," she said. "I've been on the farm for as long as I can remember."
"Oh... I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have asked," Alex said.
"Do you have any memories of how you got to the farm?" He asked.
Sophia sobbed. "Not really, the only memories I have before then are too faint, and it feels like a dream."
"Those people deserve to be dealt with for what they did to you and other girls," Alex said.
"I know, but right now, I just want to be free," Sophia said.
Alex exhaled. "I know exactly how you feel, and I can assure you that with me, you are as good as free."
Sophia raised an eyebrow. "I don't even know you, how can I trust you?" She asked.
"You don't; it's just a leap of faith," Alex said, a warm smile on his face. "Come on, we are almost home, I'm sure everyone would love you when they see you."
"But they don't know me," Sophia said.
Alex chuckled. "True, but they've been expecting you for a long time."
Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
"You see, I'll explain everything later to you. But first, let's get you cleaned up, and a better outfit." Alex said.
After a few minutes of driving, the car parked In front of a fancy boutique, and Alex took Sophia in. Immediately, they got in; all eyes were on Sophia and Alex, they wondered why Alex was with someone like Sophia.
"Excuse me, sir, how may we help you?" A young lady sales attendant said, waking up to Alex.
"Ummm... I'd be needing some beautiful clothes for milady here." Alex said, holding Sophia on her waist.
The sales attendant hesitated before gesturing for Sophia to follow her. Alex however, remained in the reception, waiting patiently for them.
"Excuse me, sir, are you here alone?" The receptionist asked.
"Oh no, I came here with Milady," Alex said confidently.
The receptionist chuckled. "You mean that filthy brat that walked in here with you? Oh please, you look like a man with good taste, and I'm sure you know those types are only after your money."
Alex's anger rose instantly, but he managed to suppress it quickly before the receptionist noticed it. "What's your name?" Alex asked a warm smile on his face.
"Elizabeth, but you can call me Lizzy." She said, her voice seductive.
"What a beautiful name for a beautiful young lady," Alex said.
"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself," Elizabeth said, then she walked towards Alex and sat beside him.
"So, are you single?" Alex asked, his voice low and husky.
"I am, but I have a feeling that I won't remain that way for long." She replied leaning closer for a kiss.
However, Alex stopped her with a finger to her lips. "I'm not surprised you are single because no guy would want to date a girl who doesn't mind her business," Alex said.
Elizabeth sat there her anger rising. "How dare you talk to me like that? I'll make you pay." She yelled.
"I'll make you pay. It's obvious you don't know who I am because if you did, you would have asked for an autograph instead." she said proudly.
"Just who the hell do you think you are? I'm the manager's favorite staff, so you should know that I'm untouchable." Elizabeth boasted.
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Really? And how did you achieve that? By sucking his incredibly short d**k. Look, I'm not in a good mood today, so I'll advise you to stay away from me." Alex said.
Elizabeth flared up in anger. "Is it because of that filthy brat you're insulting me? I'll make sure I make you both pay."
Alex snapped. "Called her filthy one more time, and I'll make sure your life becomes more miserable, and futile than your chances of ever becoming smarter," Alex said, his voice stern.
Elizabeth grinned. "That low life doesn't deserve to be here, she is nothing but a filthy brat."
Alex walked away, and after a few minutes, he came back with the manager of the boutique.
"Mr Rodriguez, I hope this man isn't bothering you?" Elizabeth asked, her voice gentle and caring.
Rodriguez chuckled. "No, he's not; as a matter of fact, he just bought this company from the CEO himself, so he's the new boss. Thankfully, he still let me retain my job as the manager." He said.
A content smile appeared on Alex's face. "Not just you, sir, but all your staff too." He said.
Elizabeth stood there, her eyes widened in shock. "He did what?" She asked. "It's not possible. This company should be worth at least a couple million dollars. There's no way this man has that kind of money."
Rodriguez chuckled. "You were right Mr, Alex, she doesn't know who you are." He said to Alex.
"Anyways, I was thinking... I am going to retain every staff in this boutique, all except one." Alex said, his gaze turning to Elizabeth.
"I-It's not possible, you can't possibly fire me...can you?" Elizabeth asked.
"Umm... According to this certificate of ownership, he pretty much can." Rodriguez said. "Sorry Elizabeth, but you've gotta go."
"B-But I'm your best staff." She stuttered.
"I know, but... You don't mind your business, and now that's costs you your job." Rodriguez said.
Elizabeth's anger rose, but there was nothing she could do about it. She knew she was suffering for her actions, and at this point, begging would be even more disgraceful.
Alex chuckled. "You know... All that stands in the way between you keeping your job and losing it is a simple apology." Alex said a sly smile on his face.
Elizabeth felt like the ground should swallow her whole. Not only that Alex had bought the company to ridicule her, but now he wanted to make more mockery of her by asking her to apologize.
Elizabeth's ego hindered her from apologizing, so she gathered her things in a box, and stood up to leave. "going? I honestly thought you'd play the smart move by apologizing. Like I said earlier, the chances of you becoming smarter are futile." Alex mocked.
Just then, Sophia came back, dressed in a beautiful black dress with golden designs on it. Alex's eyes widened in surprise as he beheld her beauty.
"Wow... You look so.... Stunning." Alex stuttered.
Sophia blushed momentarily, before curtsying. "Thank you, this was your doing." She said.
"It's no big deal, come on, let's get going," Alex said.
"Ummm... You haven't paid for these," Sophia said. "Or did you pay for them while I was away?"
Alex chuckled. "Pay? I didn't have to pay a dime for these." He said proudly.
"Really? So they just give out clothes for free here?" She asked.
"What? Of course not." Alex said, chuckling lightly. "I bought the entire boutique."
Sophia raised an eyebrow. "What? You didn't have to do that. I thought we were only here for one dress. Why buy the entire company?" She demanded.
"That lady insulted you, so I decided to punish her," Alex said, pointing to the receptionist who was now leaving with her things.
"Oh... I see. But that was still too much; you could have just let it slide; I get a lot of insults." Sophia said.
"Nope, I wouldn't... Now let's get you home." Alex said.
