"Kagekawa, no matter how much time has passed, you will never surpass me!"
"Sedah, you fool! How many years has it been since we last fought? Don't you dare underestimate me! I have only grown more powerful!"
Kagekawa's forearms grew double their size; blood had flown throughout his body, making his face, arms and legs more vascular. It was as if he had transformed!
"Sedah! I am not so foolish that I would fight an opponent I didn't think I could beat!"
"Kagekawa, your magic is inferior. Your swordsmanship is inferior. Your strength is inferior. Haha! Ah! Don't get me wrong! You've done well for a human!" His expression changed from playful to serious. "How do you ever hope to beat me? Hurry up and pull out your actual weapon so I can end this quick-"
Kagekawa vanished and reappeared right in front of Sedah, swinging his blade at Sedah's throat, but his sword was skillfully parried away just in time. Kagekawa stepped back, out of Sedah's range. The land where Kagekawa had initially stood was cracked.
"Tch! I thought I could've quickly ended it."
A single droplet of sweat slid down from Sedah's forehead. He smiled, gritting his teeth.
"You're one bold swordsman; maybe I did underestimate you."
Kagekawa's cheek had been slightly cut and blood dripped down.
"However, you overestimated your abilities, damm swordsman! I told you to use your true weapon."
Sedah had cut Kagekawa without him being able to perceive his slash.
Kagekawa stretched out his arm, he clenched tightly onto a shield.
"A shield? Are you mocking me!?"
Kagekawa stretched out his other arm, and a gold-hilted longsword appeared out of thin air.
"I can summon any weapon of my choosing. I am a master of any and all types of weapons. I have grown and evolved, now being able to summon and wield multiple weapons!"
"Is that all? You're gonna have to do better than that."
Sedah rushed forward in an instant, swinging vertically with immense force and speed, aiming for Kagekawa's head, but Sedah's blade broke! Kagekawa had stanced himself, firmly planting his feet on the ground, defending his powerful attack with the indestructible shield. The land cracked beneath!
"Tch! Damm swordsman!"
-----------------------------------------
The King of Coldera returned to his kingdom.
"My King. Everything is going just as we expected. Better even! The body of the test subject 'Shun' has been responding great to the experiments! However, there is one slight issue...he doesn't seem to listen to commands, unfortunately."
"...I see. Regardless, release him onto the battlefield. It matters not if he kills our own." The King spoke in a quiet tone, walking into his throne room.
"At once my King!" The personal advisor gave a bow and walked off into the depths of the castle. Spiralling staircases led deep underground into dungeons. Humans that have committed past crimes, orphans and the homeless were locked up.
They all were born with unfortunate lives and it hadn't gotten any better. Every day, they were experimented on and continuously put through horrific trials to further expand the personal advisor's twisted idea of evolution.
A large and dark room, filled with metal cages that held humans that were treated like animals. No! Worse than animals! They stuck their skeleton-like hands out as the personal advisor walked past each and every cage. They either begged or scorned this terrible man. Some were shackled to the walls, it was apparent their bodies had been violated and disfigured.
Most of the people trapped in here couldn't speak anymore and if anyone could, it was very little. However, the personal advisor walked even further down. A deeper floor. It had only hosted one person. Shun. He was in a cage, shackled to the wall. He had a cage covering his mouth. His eye's were full of hate.
"Ah! Shun! How are we today?" He asked with a smile.
"..."
"As always! A monster of few words! I know! How about I set you free? Does that sound nice?" The advisor gave a little smirk.
"..."
"If you can muster up and say one word! Only one word! Then I promise I'll let you go!"
"..."
"..No good huh? Oh well!"
Shun had tried to get closer to the advisor, shaking the chains! It shook the castle itself!
"Enough! Damm monster!"
He walked towards Shun, swiftly injecting him with a dark blue liquid of some sort. It made Shun relax and slowly become unconscious.
"Phew! Anyways, let's begin the final experiment." The advisor looked more serious.
Throughout the years, Shun had been imprisoned, and continuously, they had forcibly given drugs of all kinds to him. To enhance his body, numb his feelings and make him obedient. No matter how many drugs they tried to tame him with, he never stopped thinking about killing them. They merged monster parts onto his body. His organs were also replaced.
They forced him to eat magic stones. They cut his limbs, stitching them with new ones. Shun didn't resemble a human at all. He didn't resemble any monster of any kind. They had burned him, stabbed him and poisoned him continuously. All for the sake of testing his limits. However, throughout all of it, Shun survived.
"It's time to feed him a dragon!" The advisor grinned from ear to ear.
