Recalling my father's comments, I hurried back to Lucien's camp. Who the real boss is, you have no notion. Alec thought he was connected to the prophecy, that he could somehow replace Lucien. It sounded impossible, but if Alec truly believed it, that made him more dangerous than ever. I had to warn Lucien. He needed to know what Alec was planning.
The camp was humming with activity when I got there. Warriors were warming up, polishing weapons, and getting ready for a fight. The air was thick with anxiety, heavier than it had been in days. Something was wrong. I sped my pace, making my way to Lucien's tent, but before I could reach it, Serena stepped in front of me.
"Corrigan," she said, her tone clipped. "Lucien's been waiting for you."
I tried to go by her and said, "I need to speak with him," but she stopped me with a raised hand.
With hardened eyes, she cautioned, "It's not a good time." "The rogues are moving. We're going to war tonight."
