Chapter 12 - Lin Muxue

"Supermarket?" Lin Muxue twirled the pen in her hand and raised an eyebrow.

"Yes." Hu Dashan knelt before Lin Muxue, his eyes fervent.

Lin Muxue was well-informed, having been reported to by her subordinates as soon as the rumors about Galaxy Supermarket appeared in the base.

At that time, she just thought it was some trick someone had crafted to deceive people.

But from what Hu Dashan implied, it seemed real.

Lin Muxue put down the pen in her hand, leaned forward, and lightly lifted Hu Dashan's chin with her fingertips.

"How big is this supermarket, and how many people?"

Being in such close contact with the goddess, Hu Dashan shivered with delight, forgetting all about his injuries.

"It's huge, with five stories, but we only went to the first floor; it seemed like they didn't allow people onto the second. There's just one woman."

"Woman?"

At this, a flash of dark light sparked in Lin Muxue's eyes.

"Is she prettier than me?"

"You can't even begin to compare her to you; you're much more beautiful." Su Yinhe was indeed pretty, but in the eyes of a lover, everyone else pales in comparison; to him, Lin Muxue was the most beautiful in the world.

Lin Muxue nodded, satisfied, and withdrew her hand, "Alright, now I know. You can go."

"That supermarket..." Hu Dashan looked at Lin Muxue's retreating hand somewhat dissatisfied.

"I'll take care of it. After all, you're my man; I won't let others bully you." Lin Muxue curled a smile, utterly bewitching Hu Dashan.

Hu Dashan nodded dazedly and wandered out, conscientiously closing the door behind him.

Muxue smiled at him.

Muxue would take revenge for him.

Once Hu Dashan left, Lin Muxue immediately dropped her smile and vigorously wiped her fingers that had just touched him.

Disgusting.

It stank to death.

Who knows how many months it's been since he last bathed.

If it weren't for his strong superpower, and that he still had some utility, she would have...

Now alone, Lin Muxue no longer masked her malice toward Hu Dashan.

After cleaning her hands, Lin Muxue mulled over the supermarket Hu Dashan brought up.

Ten years since the apocalypse, even though she was a base authority's niece, and her everyday food and supplies were better than the average person's, comparing it to pre-apocalypse standards of living... was utterly incomparable.

Now with the addition of a supermarket—a supermarket where the goods were still plentiful, practically no different from pre-apocalypse ones...

If it really was as Hu Dashan said.

Then this supermarket had successfully piqued her interest.

Such a good supermarket should belong to the base, of course.

Lin Muxue smiled to herself. A big supermarket run by one woman can't possibly be well-managed; naturally, it should be handed over to the base for proper administration.

The woman had opened the supermarket near the base; wasn't she clearly hoping for the base's protection?

Then paying some protection fee was to be expected, wasn't it?

Lately, it had been a long time since she caught up with her uncle.

Of course, before chatting with uncle, she still had to check with her subordinates.

Although she believed Hu Dashan wouldn't dare to deceive her, what if?

Lin Muxue, in her actions, was always careful and cautious.

Lin Muxue asked a few more people and confirmed it was true. One of them had even exchanged goods at Galaxy Supermarket and obsequiously showed Lin Muxue a packet of instant noodles he got her.

Looking at the instant noodles in her hand, Lin Muxue's thoughts grew more intense.

After clarifying various matters about the Galaxy Supermarket, Lin Muxue made herself up a bit and took the packet of instant noodles to have a chat with her dear uncle.

"A supermarket? A five-story high big supermarket?" Lin Nianbei found it hard to believe the claim about the supermarket. It had been several years since the apocalypse—how could anyone suddenly come up with so much stuff to open a supermarket?

But the packet of instant noodles in his hand told him that his niece's words were true.

"Uncle, I heard it's already been open for two days, and lots of people have gone to exchange things there," Lin Muxue was the picture of a well-behaved, obedient, and sensible niece in front of Lin Nianbei.

"The base has been worried recently because the safe period is almost over, and we still don't have enough food reserves, right? I saw that Uncle, you were so worried that your hair has gone white."

"The moment I heard about it, I thought of this. So I rushed over to tell you. But I also don't know if someone is intentionally setting up a trap to lure people out of the base to grab stuff, and I want Uncle to send someone to check it out."

It was more convincing if the information came from their own investigation.

Lin Muxue had no intention of directly telling Lin Nianbei.

"Thank you, Xiao Xue. I will send someone to check it out. If someone is intentionally causing trouble, then we'll throw them to the zombies. If it's true... Xiao Xue, you will have saved everyone at the base."

Lin Nianbei, holding Lin Muxue's hand, felt he hadn't raised his niece in vain.

Back when he had no children and adopted Muxue, his friends even mocked him for taking care of his older brother's child. They had no idea just how sweet Muxue was.

"I just wanted to help Uncle solve problems," Lin Muxue replied modestly.

"Anyway, you've been a great help." Indeed, a supermarket couldn't save an entire base.

But if the supplies in that supermarket were really as abundant as rumored, the base could use the scarce items from the supermarket to exchange with those at the base who had a surplus of food.

Even during the apocalypse, there were many people with heaps of stored food.

Some people did not even have a bowl of porridge, while others had warehouses full of food.

Exchanging for food that was a bit inferior didn't matter, nor did it matter if it tasted bad. They could add some water to it. It wouldn't be enough to feel full, but if distributed, at least it would keep too many people from starving to death.

The safe period was about to pass, and no one knew what disaster would come next.

But as long as there was something to eat, more people could survive.

By then, all of this would be credited to him, and the survivors would have to thank him. The higher the public's support, the more authority he would have in the base.

"I'm glad I could help Uncle," Lin Muxue said, seeing Lin Nianbei's expression and knowing she had swayed him.

If Lin Nianbei took over the supermarket, the items would certainly be reserved for her to pick first.

And would there be a need to spend gold?

Lin Muxue didn't want to spend so much gold in exchange, and later on, having to humbly ask a woman to exchange.

Bowing and scraping.

That was something Lin Muxue could not bring herself to do.

Lin Muxue revealed a smile.

Lin Nianbei and Lin Muxue discussed how to allocate the supplies after taking down the supermarket and how to exchange with those who had surplus food.

No one noticed that someone had been standing outside all along, listening to their plotting.

Lin Murong had originally come to submit some documents, and it was such a coincidence that his sister had gone in first.

Lin Murong did not want to be in the same room as Lin Muxue, so he had waited outside, planning to go in after Lin Muxue had finished and come out.

But unexpectedly, Lin Muxue hadn't closed the door tightly, leaving a crack.

Standing by the door, Lin Murong could hear everything they said clearly.

Lin Murong touched his forehead. Well, it couldn't be counted as eavesdropping if

it was unintended.

Lin Muxue, having successfully persuaded Lin Nianbei, left contentedly.

Unexpectedly, when she opened the door to leave, she saw her brother Lin Murong.

"Why are you here?" Lin Muxue frowned.

Lin Murong didn't say a word, just shook the documents in his hand and went inside.

Lin Muxue looked at the door and then at the smug silhouette of Lin Murong, her eyebrows furrowing so much they almost knotted.

He couldn't have heard everything, could he?
