Chu Shuo smiled faintly, neither confirming nor denying.
Nan Bingyu immediately sat up straight, "Could it really be true? No no, you better leave. There are spies everywhere here. Who knows if you'll still be able to see our Yueyue after tonight ends."
Chu Shuo was stunned for a moment.
Chi Yue watched her as well.
Nan Bingyu said, "Chi Qingqing is going around saying that you're the man she's set her sights on; we certainly don't dare to compete with her for you."
Chu Shuo had heard these words before, but he didn't take them seriously; after all, a person he wasn't interested in could not affect him in the slightest, even if she spread rumors that they were already married.
Chu Shuo intended to explain, but then he saw a friend signaling him to come over from across the room. He said, "I'll go and come back."
Once Chu Shuo left, Nan Bingyu very seriously said to Chi Yue, "Yueyue, he is the man Chi Qingqing has set her sights on. If possible, keep a certain distance from him."
Chi Yue was surprised; but upon reflection, Chu Shuo was indeed one of the more outstanding men among their group, so it was normal for Chi Qingqing to target Chu Shuo.
"After I square these two meals with him, I will keep my distance," she said.
With those words from Chi Yue, Nan Bingyu felt relieved, "I'm going to dance, do you want to come?"
"I'm going to the restroom."
"Alright."
The restroom was inside, accessed via a long corridor.
Chi Yue took a less crowded path and, as she rounded a corner, saw a tall figure standing there making a phone call.
Chi Yue glanced at him indifferently and passed by him calmly.
He was the same as she remembered, his aura of unapproachability hitting her head-on.
As she was touching up her makeup in front of the mirror, the reflection suddenly captured a handsome and cool face. Chi Yue paused momentarily but continued her routine as if no one was there.
After finishing her makeup, Chi Yue packed up her things and was about to leave when, passing by the man, he suddenly spoke: "I heard that Fu Rao went looking for you?"
Chi Yue stopped to look at him, "Mr. Fu, are you here as Fu Rao's Fifth Uncle to warn me to stay away from him? If so, you might as well focus your energy on Fu Rao instead."
"He said you and Chu Shuo are quite close."
Chi Yue was somewhat taken aback and wanted to see his expression while saying this. But looking carefully, she found his eyes and face entirely unmoved.
Chi Yue laughed softly, "Mr. Chu has helped me a few times; I'm quite grateful to him."
"Chu Shuo isn't your best choice."
The voice of Fu Rongyin was sharp and authoritative, carrying a tone that brooked no argument.
Chi Yue withdrew her gaze, "That's my affair, Mr. Fu; you needn't concern yourself with it."
Chi Yue returned to the outdoor dance floor and looked around but didn't see Nan Bingyu. She dialed Nan Bingyu's phone only to remember that her phone was in her own purse.
At that moment, a waiter approached her, "Are you looking for Lady Nan?"
They were regulars here and the staff recognized them both.
Chi Yue nodded, "Have you seen her?"
The waiter replied, "Lady Nan seems to have had too much to drink and is swimming by the pool."
Chi Yue rushed to the pool and indeed saw Nan Bingyu doing the backstroke in her evening gown, which immensely worried her.
She called out a few times from the edge of the pool, but Nan Bingyu did not respond, so Chi Yue reluctantly found a towel and stood by the poolside waiting for her.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Chi Qingqing walking this way. For safety reasons, Chi Yue decided to move to a safer spot.
She had just taken a few steps when she tripped on something and staggered, her body uncontrollably falling towards the pool.
A great fear swept over her as Chi Yue tried to grab onto something to stabilize herself, but she caught nothing and plunged heavily into the pool, splashing up great waves.
