Zong Fang carried the person who had collapsed in his arms into the bathtub, washed her clean, and then dried her hair. Throughout the entire process, Qiao Suisui slept soundly, clearly exhausted.
In this space where the flow of time wasn't perceptible, Zong Fang added carpets, curtains, a vanity, a sofa, and a series of other furnishings she liked to the originally empty room, turning it truly into a cozy home.
When Qiao Suisui next opened her eyes, she saw the European-style canopy above the bed and thought she was in a different place.
"What time is it?" she asked, rubbing her eyes.
"It's time to eat something," Zong Fang replied as he carried her to the dining table, where Suisui sat on his lap like a doll.
He supervised her as she ate more than half of the food on her plate before quickly clearing up her leftovers with the utensils.
After the meal, they left the house and walked along the riverbank. The sky, usually clear, now displayed the afterglow of the setting sun.
