Chapter 3 - Chapter 5

"What are you doing?" Emerald yelled at Saran who chuckled villainously.

"You haven't seen anything yet, that's why you still have the nerve to speak to me so recklessly." Emerald watched as Sarah spat on her mother's face. "It's only your fault that you gave birth to such a gold-digger." Then she pushed Emerald's mother's head back causing her to pass out.

"Mother!" Emerald yelled loudly causing Sarah to point her gun at Emerald. "If you know what's good for you, you better shut up your mouth!" Emerald snapped. "If you don't act right, I may just decide to pull the trigger."

With tears rolling out of Emerald's eyes she shook her head, "No, please! Please don't."

"Great, then shut up!" Sarah said and Emerald nodded with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Sarah scoffed and then stepped outside to talk to the bodyguards. Emerald couldn't help but cry even more as she was left alone to stare at her mother's passed-out figure.

"Mother, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. If only I didn't get married to Lucian." Emerald cried out loud.

An hour later, a guard entered the room to wake Emerald and her mother up to give them food to eat.

"Please, have this food." The bodyguard said after waking Emerald's mother up but she refused to eat.

"Why would I eat the food you bring to me after kidnapping me, huh? Who exactly in their right sense would do that?! If anyone else will do that, I definitely will not!" Emerald's mother yelled at the guard, her voice waking up Emerald who had fallen asleep.

"Well, you have to eat the food if you don't want to starve to death." The guard said, becoming angry with every moment Emerald's mother stalled.

"You're lucky I'm the one giving the food to you and not Miss Sarah, if not you'd barely have a bite to eat. So If you know what's good for you, you'd hurry up and have the meal."

Emerald saw the going back and forth with the bodyguard and felt bad about it, she knew it wasn't long before something went down between her mother and the bodyguard. But not in the positive light and that was what she was scared of. Sarah had a gun, just that alone was enough to make her want to cooperate with the going-on serenade with the guards. But her mother was more feisty.

"Do you know who my husband is? I promise you, he'll find you and he'll kill you."

"Mother please!" Emerald yelled out loud so her mother could hear her. "Just give in and have something to eat."

The guard recoiled back and looked at Emerald with a goofy smile on his face. "At least one of you has good sense."

He scoffed at Emerald's mother and walked over to Emerald and placed the tray on her lap instead.

Then he grabbed the burger whose aroma filled the room, then he brought it to her lips, and said, "Eat."

Emerald hesitated but she didn't want to get in trouble with the guard so then she opened her mouth and bit into the burger.

"Delicious isn't it?"

Emerald said nothing as she continued chewing the piece in her mouth.

Then she kept chewing until she was done. "Thank you," she said to the guard. "Now can you please give my mother some, I know that she's hungry. Sarah probably didn't give her food before my arrival."

"And you seriously think I'm going to do it after the fuss your mother just created."

"Please, I'll take full responsibility. Just please, let her eat." Emerald said sadly.

Emerald's mother looked at Emerald with pity in her eyes. "I'm sorry honey for what this seems like but I promise that your father is going to find us, and when he does, he's not going to take this lightly. He'll fight and defend us, I promise you." She said with quivering lips.

"I believe you, mother. I do." Emerald said, but before that moment, "Please eat up."

The guard seemed exasperated by the sight but he walked over to Emerald's mother anyway and let her have the bite of burger. After she was done eating, he said, "No thank you?"

Emerald's mother gave the guard a glare causing him to take away the tray and step out of the room.

Now, it was only mother and daughter left alone in the dark room.

"Mother," Emerald said, "Whatever they tell you, please do. We have to go with whatever they say for us to stay alive. If we're not alive, how could Dad find us?"

"And your husband too." Emerald's mother chirped in. "He must be worried sick looking for you. If only that Sarah girl wasn't so sly, you wouldn't be here. But because of me, you got into trouble and stepped into the lion's den. I'm sorry for that, Emerald. I didn't mean to."

Emerald didn't know how to tell her mother that things weren't supposedly how they looked like. Although yes, her parents were the ones who gave her away into marriage with Lucian, they didn't know what he was truly like. That man had caused bruises all over her body and had her aching in pain. How the hell was she supposed to believe that he would care now that she was kidnapped? Her only and most reachable bet remained her father, Damian. Two of his family members were gone, she couldn't help but think if he was worried sick looking all over for the two of them.

"Emerald, you shouldn't be here. You're way too young for all of this but I can be here. I'm old enough to deal with the kidnapper, I didn't need you to chirp in." She said.

"Well, Mother, I'm pretty sure that was not the case. You were doing badly with the guard and if I just let you be you would have not eaten and only God knows when next you'd get your meal from.
