"Search everywhere, do not leave any corner unturned. We must find my wife and her mother!"
The bodyguards all did as they were ordered, barging into the warehouse to look for Emerald and her mother. They ran past the living room, searching the sides and inner room but they saw no one, only empty chairs with ropes on the floor.
"What's going on?" David asked one of the bodyguards who came back to report to him and Lucian.
"We've searched the warehouse but there's nobody in it."
Lucian clenched his fists and stepped into the warehouse himself, walking past the living room and the passage. Then he got to the inner room and saw the empty chairs and ropes on the floor. He picked both ropes from the floor and smelled it.
"They were here," he said, causing David to freeze in his steps because he had no idea what to do to soothe Lucian's obvious anger.
"I-i-i promise you, Boss. They were here, I promise you!"
"It doesn't matter!" Lucian grunted. "Because right now, they're not here!"
"Oh no, what do I do now?" David said shakily. He was on his feet but his guts were wavering as well as his strength. No one could stand before Lucian in his magnified anger so he knew better than to say anything even more pathetic to worsen the situation.
"Shut up, David. The rest of you. Keep an ear nearby to see if you are going to find them." Lucian said causing the men to leave the warehouse and focus on its surroundings.
Only David was in the warehouse with Lucian but he made sure to put enough distance between them because he didn't want his presence to be an act of irritant to his boss and his Alpha.
At that crucial moment, Lucian dipped his right hand in his chest pocket and brought out his phone. He unlocked it and dialed a number. It beeped twice and then there was a swift response.
"Hello, honey?" It was a feminine voice. One that Lucian knew all too well.
"Sarah, where are you?" He said sternly, going straight to the point with his speech.
"About time." She responded with a giggle. "I've been waiting for so long for you to ask me that question honey," She said the last part intimately.
"You must have mistaken something, Sarah. I, Lucian am not your honey." He said firmly.
"Oh come off of that shyness, My Alpha and Lord. I am supposed to be your wife not that bitch who happens to be a forsaken witch! Don't you forget, Lucian? This woman is bad luck as well as her bloodline. They're the reason your family was wiped out with no chance at life! How dare she try to get close to you after all that?!"
"She didn't know," was Lucian's response even though he was hurting on the inside. Indeed it was true that witches were responsible for making his life a lonely one by taking the lives of his parents early. However, he owed Damien a response tonight and he couldn't wait to play games around with a woman that he barely had feelings for.
"Like that Is an excuse! Lucian, I thought you were planning to make that bitch's life a living hell but you seem to have forgotten what your plan even is!"
"You have no idea what you're talking about," Lucian said. "Let them go. Both Emerald and her mother. If I can't have them both in one hour, you're going to die. I mean it."
Sarah gasped through the phone. "I can't believe that you would say that to me, it isn't fair! I was with you way before this bitch was!"
Lucian listened to the sound of the waterfall in the background where Sarah was speaking. It also sounded a bit windy.
Without hesitation, Lucian ended the call and turned to David. "Is there any place around here with a waterfall?"
"Yes, the aqua tent," David answered with widened eyes.
"Where is that?" Lucian asked.
"Um… two kilometers from here. I know the place I can take you there."
"Get in the truck, David," Lucian commanded.
Then he strutted outside while calling his men to him. They all got into the truck with David driving.
"Boss, did you find anything out?"
"I did," Lucian answered. "David is taking us there now."
The bodyguards cleared their throats noticing the firmness in their boss's demeanor. Meanwhile, Damien's group of men in the truck kept silent but were overall, following the activities of Lucian's men.
At that moment, Lucian's phone began to ring.
Lucian grabbed forth his phone and sneered when he saw that it was Sarah.
"Boss, we're here." David pulled over in a huge plantation with a barn binding behind the collections of growing wheat.
"Sure enough," Lucian said after catching a whiff of Emerald and her mother's scent. It was a sweet fragrance hidden with the wheat's natural scent.
"Go ahead and search the barn," he said out loud. "They're here."
The bodyguards hesitated but then they began to head to the barn by walking through the tall wheats.
Lucian took a step forward to join them when his phone started ringing again.
He answered the call.
"Hello?"
"How could you end the call when I'm still talking? Don't you care about Emerald anymore? I could just kill her you know? I'm sure you don't want to see the pretty doll dislocated, do you know?"
Lucian smirked knowing that he wouldn't need to worry about that, but then he said.
"No, of course not."
"Good. If you don't want the bitch to be dislocated then tell me the truth about what you feel for me. You love me, right?"
There was a brief silence.
Lucian listened to the background noises and immediately located a cliff and behind it was a stream of waterfalls. This location was just opposite the barn.
Lucian pretended to not hear the recent words Sarah spoke as he headed in the opposite direction. His werewolf instincts were strong and it didn't take him too long to locate Sarah holding her phone to her right ear while facing the waterfalls.
"Hello?" She called restrictively, feeling as though the problem was the phone network.
"Hello?"
However, as she heard Lucian's voice both on the phone and in the daytime, her eyes widened as she turned around to face Lucian's pitch-dark eyes.
