Chapter 34 - Changes Part 5

Victor got out of bed, he had a cleaner appearance, not only that, his cheeks were now a little chubbier, his skull and ribs were no longer marked by the lack of food.

"Valery" He said his voice was sparse, sounding more like a stifled sigh. The lack of use of his voice had weakened it so much that it would not let him speak normally.

"Ah" Having heard his voice in such a bad state, he put his hand on his throat and massaged it with his fingers. Of course that wouldn't make his voice go back to how it used to be, but it would at least relieve the burning.

He woke up hungry and hadn't eaten for days, ever since Valery left.

Hungrily he ate the food that was on the table next to the bottles of water, chewed quickly and swallowed hard, and did the same with the water, taking big gulps of water.

The moonlight was enough light for him to look at his surroundings, the lack of use of light has made his eyes more accustomed to the darkness, even so there are things he cannot see at all. Like the bottom of the room that is so dark that he doubts he can find anything if he throws anything into it.

The taste of the cold meats were excellent, high quality. The taste was good, but being outdoors it has lost some of that great taste, but for the first meal he has had the joy of eating consciously it is just perfect.

His cheeks bulged from the food, before the knocking and movement at the door started to happen. The movements startled Victor, who even though he related them to Valery.

The first thing he had were flashbacks, painful, that memory was one of the many reasons why he decided to remain inert like a doll waiting for his death.

"Hide!" his father's cry, warning the other humans, echoed in his mind. He remembered his mother's and father's eyes conveying farewell. Eyes he could never see, when he saw them again those eyes were dead without a hint of affection or anything.

The cold body of his parents under Victor's feet was a vivid memory even today. If it weren't for the image of his father's body being another one, maybe there he could fall back into the same thing.

"Valery" he whispered as he strained his eyes, with evident sadness. His parents are the chain of much more suffering and unfortunate memories that he has lived since his childhood.

The war lasted 5 years, it was a total defeat for humanity. Those 5 years there were great losses for everyone, Victor is one of those victims.

(I don't know why I feel that I already know the date of the war between vampires and humans, but I can't find the data, while I was looking for it, so if someone finds it or remembers it, let me know to change it... because I only remember to have said that it was only a year or so since the end of the war).

The door opened but Victor did not react. He was still struggling with his memories.

"Is he awake?"

"Hasn't he always been awake?" asked Stelle.

"No, of course not!" Katerin stared at him in a startled stare.

At the shock, Victor looked back at both women. But he could only notice the dark silhouette of their bodies, their red eyes gleaming in the darkness, even with that image that terrifies most humans nowadays Victor did not feel terror, because whether he dies now or not, he does not care.

"Valery?"

With more startled eyes Katerin looked at him again with more attention.

"Where is Valery?"

"She's not here, she hasn't come out yet" Katerin replied to Victor's question "Today is the blood frenzy moon, that's why she hasn't come out yet"

"Valery...." she whispered with a great desire to see her.

Katerin looked back at Stelle, who looked at her strangely. She knows Victor but not enough, she hasn't even interacted with him or really knows who he is.

Katerin took Victor's hand and led him to the area where all the vampires were locked up while living their blood frenzy.

"What?" Stelle followed them in awe, taking him to a human where there would probably be a lot of hungry vampires didn't sound like the best idea in the world.

They passed through the rooms and in front of Valery's room, Artur was waiting for Valery to come out.

"I don't have time for this," said Stelle who was thirsty, returning from the place to her room.

Artur noticed the arrival of Katerin and Victor, looking Victor up and down, gauging his potential mood but sensing no evil from the thin, frail human in front of him.

"What are you doing here?" asked Katerin.

"I serve Baroness Valery, I am here to await your departure" Artur said with loyalty and admiration.

"Do you like her so much?"

"Yes, she is a good leader" Artur was thankful a few days ago his family had arrived in Valery's territory, today when he left he received the letter where he read everything cheerfully he came directly to Valery.

He had to show his loyalty.

Artur looked at Victor again, not hiding his crassness, he asked.

"And him?"

"He is Valery's human, he was asking where he is so I brought him. I felt it was a good idea to bring him here."

Artur frowned at Katerin's comment, he didn't know who Victor was, but if he is Valery's pet he can't disctur or do anything. Maybe she will act happier to see her pet when she comes out.
