Chapter 46 - Emotional Breakthrough

The head with the blonde hair and beautiful black eyes was on the floor without a body. Red colored blood and pieces of flesh were leaking from the place where the neck was supposed to be. It was clear that it was not a clean cut. Rather, it was as if the cut was made by a ferocious animal with very long and sharp nails.

Thud!

I then averted my eyes from the head to look ahead at the headless body that fell onto the floor. Blood was seeping out from its top but not from anywhere else of the body.

Aaahhh!

Bleurgh!

There was suddenly havoc around us. People were screaming and running around. Some even vomited at the scene as they saw the dead body and the gore.

For me, it all felt strange, very strange. I felt no nausea when I saw the corpse. There was only one emotion clogging up my thoughts, it was sorrow. My head was filled with grief. I wasn't even able to think or process anything at that moment.

With my blurry eyes which were filled with tears, I sifted my attention from Karl towards Oliver. His eyes were wide open. He didn't feel much nausea either; I knew that he had already seen death before. He then parted his lips as he said, "Kal-"

Even before Oliver could finish his words, a gray silhouette suddenly appeared over his chest and in the next second, his chest gashed open! His left brown lung was visible which was punctured as blood and air profusely came out of it.

Thud!

Without wasting even a breath's time, the lifeless body of Oliver fell onto the floor.

Sob! Sob!

I felt paralyzed. There were people screaming and running away from the scene but all I did hear was silence. None of the sounds reached my ears.

The wind was filled with the putrid smell of blood and the sounds of terror. However, all my senses were numbed by sorrow. There was no sound, no smell, no taste, no sensation and only a blurry image of my friends' corpses in my wet eyes.

Grief was all I was at that moment.

Suddenly a small grey figure entered my blurry vision. It was standing in between both of the corpses while facing me.

With my right hand, I wiped my tears to look at the strange figure clearly. It was similar to a small grey wolf but it had more ferocious teeth and nails. There was blood and flesh stuck in its nails.

Grr!

The monster was growling at me.

I then realized that that was what killed my friends. It was the reason that the joy was snatched away from my life. It was the reason for me feeling the intense emotion of grief.

The tears in my eyes dried up. My eyes became bloodshot as an intense anger took control of my mind. My face was burning due to anger. My fists tightened as I looked at the growling monster infront of me.

Although the monster looked strangely familiar, I couldn't process why. My mind had already stopped thinking as the emotion of anger clogged it further.

I didn't know how but my right palm suddenly rose and I then looked at it and said something. Immediately, a black dagger with a silver edge and leather covered metallic handle popped on my palm. Its blade was so dull that I even doubted if it would even be of any use.

Nevertheless, my body suddenly moved as I ran towards the growling wolf.

Howl!

The monster howled loudly and jumped in my direction. Its paws moved infront of it as it wanted to slash me with its terrifying nails. But, the monster was strangely slow.

Whoosh!

Pooch!

As it was in air, my body impulsively moved under it. The dagger moved and slashed opened its belly as its innards fell onto the floor. My body maneuvered in such a way that not a single drop of blood landed onto me.

Thud!

I looked at the monster as it fell on the opposite side and died.

My anger had now started to subside. My bloodshot eyes were now regaining back their focus. All my senses started to slowly return.

Shing!

Just as my thoughts were about to become clear, I heard a very familiar and unpleasant sound.

Promptly I turned to look at the corpse of the monster I had just killed. I noticed that it had suddenly disintegrated into numerous shiny particles.

For some reason, my flesh started to tremble. All the hairs on my skin stood up. I could feel sweat forming on my forehead. My heart was pulsating loudly while I started to pant for air.

Cling!

Huff! Huff!

The dagger fell from my right hand as that hand then moved and grabbed onto my chest. It was getting difficult to breath. My mind again started to feel clogged, making me unable to think.

I was slowly getting consumed by fear. The fear proportionally increased as the particles were taking the form of another Lupus.

Click!

As I was losing to fear, something in my head clicked. It was as if there was a thin thread inside my mind that broke. As soon as it broke, multiple emotions started to flush through my body.

Ha-ha! Ha-ha!

Sob! Sob!

Thump! Thump!

I was laughing loudly while tears poured down from my eyes. Amongst the laughter I would sometimes also sob and gasp for air and sometimes I would clench my teeth with anger. My fists were thumping on the floor to let out the anger. My flesh was constantly trembling as I shivered with fear.

The emotions of happiness, sadness, anger and fear were making me sick. They were breaking my mind.

Just as I was about to lose it all, a thought came into my head.

'You need to go back!'

It was my own voice. It was me constantly reminding myself everyday about my purpose. Every single day I would wake up and think of the possible ways I could return back to Earth.

'You need to go back!' The voice became louder.

'Go back to Earth…'

'This is not real…'

'Wake up… Wake up!'

My head got filled with the thoughts of returning back to my home planet. All the thoughts about the orphanage, the kids, my friends from whom I stupidly distanced myself and my life which was filled with little joys, sorrows, jump scares and sometimes a bit of annoyance, flashed in my mind.

'Wasn't I on the planet Vaikun? I was going to find the human civilization. Learn how to unlock the Mind stat and master the magic and the mystics of this world to get stronger, free Psais and return back home.

'My friends never actually died like this! Our trip went smoothly and we returned with many souvenirs for everyone! It was a beautiful memory! How dare you ruin it?'

As more and more of my memories got cleared up and my thoughts started to flow, the uncontrolled emotions started to gradually decline. Slowly but surely, I was getting back the control to my mind and my emotions.

It felt as if a heavy burden was being removed from my head. My mind started to feel clearer. It was as if I was instantly removed from a very noisy and crowded place and placed in a quiet and pleasant room.

As peace filled my mind, my senses started to return. As my eyesight got clearer, I looked around myself just to find out that I was now alone. There was no one on the Great Wall of China. The Lupus, the fake corpses of my friends and the mob, everything had disappeared.

With my new and profound calmness, I looked at the fake yet beautiful scenery. It was no different from the real one.

The vast and green mountains and valleys smelled so old and majestic as if they had many tales to tell. The warm glow of the sun felt as if it was enjoying my triumph over my own mental state.

The clouds and the fogs were filled with soft and cold moisture which tasted so pure and happy as if they were made from the tears of joy. The wind was whispering a pleasant tune of victory in my ears. Meanwhile my eyes were fixated on the clear and infinite sky which was always calm and composed no matter the thunder or the rain.

As I was diving into this euphoric feeling of a calm mind and strong senses, the world started to disintegrate into small particles which had a white glow to them.

The mountains, the walls, the clouds, the grasses, the smell, the sun, the warmth, the clouds, the fog, the taste, the wind, the song, the sky and the light, everything became nothing but particles.

As the particles disappeared, I found myself standing in a dimly lit small room of a cave. My body was healthier than ever, my senses were sharper than ever and my mind was calmer than ever.

Before I could even look around the room, a notification sound resounded in my ears.

Ding!
