Sunset was falling over the city, the last rays of sunlight filtering through the deserted windows of the old school. Everyone was busy finishing their day, except for Zephyr, who was standing on the roof of the school, looking out at the cloudy sky. Although it was a normal day for everyone, for him it was different; he felt something strange rising inside him, as if there was a force lurking in the darkness, waiting for the right moment to emerge.
"Zephyr!" Kira shouted, walking towards him with quick steps. "You're here again?"
He turned towards her and smiled a small smile, "I can't stay away from this place. Something is drawing me to it."
Kira nodded, standing beside him. "I understand how you feel, but you have to be careful. Things are changing quickly in this city."
"You're talking about the new factions that have started to appear?" Zephyr asked coldly.
"Exactly. There are rumors of people with new powers that we've never seen before. You could be in danger."
Zephyr laughed softly. "I don't have any powers, Kira. I don't think anyone would care about me."
Kira stared at him with her deep eyes, as if trying to read his inner self. "Sometimes, not everything is what it seems."
Before Zephyr could respond, a loud explosion sounded in the distance. The two turned to the source of the sound, only to see plumes of smoke rising from a slum.
"It seems like things are getting out of hand." Kira said, tightening her grip on her weapon.
Zephyr stared at the rising smoke, a strange feeling taking over him, as if this was just the beginning of something much bigger than he could ever imagine.
