Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Sparring Limits

Zari flew with both Roy and the General to our normal training site. "Let's see what you got." I said stretching my body. "Wait! Let me form a barrier first for this humans." Zari said. After doing that, all four of Zari's subordinates stood and faced me. I was confused for a moment. Do they intend to fight me all at once? Their Mana reserves were not too bad ranging from 800,000 to 1,000,000. But that was only four million at maximum which when compared to my current form at 31 million, was too weak. "Your big plan was to all lose at the same time?" I taunted them. They did not reply using words but instead got into battle formations. They started in human form so there was no need for me to change to dragon form. Subordinate A flew immediately to the clouds and hid there. As I was looking up, I was hit with a light attack. This attacks were too fast to avoid. Something felt off, this attack was heavier than normal. I was thrown back and hit a nearby hill. I had a barrier at all times so minimum damage was suffered. However the intensity of that light attack was out of the norm. As I was gaining my footing, fire attacks rained from the sky likely from Subordinate A. These attacks were slow and with my ability 'lightning speed' they were easily avoided. I stood for a second to admire my evasion technique before I was disrupted by another light attack. "Are this attacks getting heavier with each volley?" I shouted as I stood up on my feet. The light attack had pushed me against a rock that shattered upon impact. Not even I could produce such an attack. What was their secret? However, I was in a battlefield and the first thing to do was ensure that I win. "YES! Good just like that. Don't give Chrono any space," Zari shouted. That light attack was very troublesome so I decided to take care of that attacker first with a lighting attack. The attack did not reach but was deviated. Of course it was deviated, they must have picked something up from our training where I did the same to their attacks. I looked carefully around the battlefield and saw various gravity zones around the battlefield that were constantly shifting to protect subordinate B who launched the Light attacks. Subordinates C and D roles were to protect Subordinate B using gravity and barrier magic. Subordinate A up in the sky was acting as a disruptor to my rhythm while Subordinate B launched those troublesome light attacks. Subordinate B did not launch volleys of light arrows or spears but instead chose to focus on a single continuous destructive beam of light for a few seconds then stop and enter a defensive position. Now that I had identified their strategy, it was easy to deal with it. I flew up to subordinate A and searched for her within the clods. The clouds provided a visibility barrier for both me and the subordinates hence acted as a double edged sword. I had flown to the direction that the attacks were coming from but did not find anyone. Instead, I made a very interesting discovery. A large portion of the clouds were not natural. How did I know this? Well there were regular linings of condensed vapor all over the sky. "Not a bad strategy." I shouted. A light attack passed a few meters away from where I was. Just as I thought, I can't see them and they can't see me. To take advantage of this situation, I used the Thunder dragon's innate ability t control weather and launched a barrage of lightning strikes throughout the battlefield. I poked my head out of the clouds to gauge the success of my attack. The ground was indeed charred but that was it. There was nobody there. I was hit by a light attack from my back which sent me tumbling down to the ground. 'Impossible an attack from behind? This means that they are fighting inside the clouds. But I was just there and I did not find anybody.' I decided that these clouds were more of a liability to me than to them. With my innate ability 'Weather Control' I cleared the sky of all clouds. They were caught off guard and I did not miss this opportunity. I launched lightning attacks against the group which was sparsely spread throughout the sky. Subordinate A was hit as well as C and D who chose to protect the trouble some light wielding B. Subordinate B launched another light attack but this time I had learnt my lesson and was constantly using lightning speed. Subordinates A, C and D fell to the ground while B started backing away. It was too late, I had won. At least that it was what I had thought. I developed a terrible premonition just as I was flying towards B. I decided to strengthen my barrier. This was a result of my battle instincts getting sharpened over time during these occasional training session and countless battles.I found myself on the ground inside a deep crater. I had not even blinked, nor had I perceived what had happened. I just found myself on the ground. There was only one person who could possibly have an answer to this.

[There was an extra enemy apart from the four. This enemy used gravity magic to accumulate a large portion of a light attack for a long period of time and released it all at once.]

Gravity magic to accumulate a light attack? That was brilliant. I didn't even think it was feasible. Burnt wounds were exposed on my back. I lay there smiling at my new discovery. 'Gravity magic could be used to enhance more types of attack magic. Should try it on them then.' "Did you get him?" Subordinate A shouted. "Yes. But I don't think he is out. He is still moving." A new voice said. "Dragon form everybody. Let's finish him here when we have the chance." Subordinate B shouted. N an instant, they all turned to their dragon forms and began throwing their strongest attacks inside the crater. The barrage went on for a few minutes. The whole battlefield was now covered with dust. "Is it over?" Subordinate C shouted. Nobody answered. Their eyes were all glued at a fixed point looking for signs that Chrono was incapacitated or not. In an instant, al the dust particles flying around were transported in one location where they coalesced and formed a rock. The battlefield was now clear and inside the crater stood a dragon shining like a ball of light.I had accumulated so much kinetic energy from the continuous bombardment that my scales involuntarily produced sparks. The light produced from the glowing scales due to the accumulation of electrical energy was enough to blind anyone. It was around noon with a clear sky but the sun looked dimmer in comparison. "Impossible!" "What?" "He is still standing?" Opinions flew all around. I looked up at the sky and saw the group. I flew towards the group but they all scattered away while launching attacks at me. But that did not matter, I was going to try something new with this power and I felt excited. I stretched out my wings and remained fixed in a position in the sky by utilizing gravity magic to levitate. I then released all the stored energy I had stored throughout my body at once. This was similar to how I released my aura from every corner of my body. A 360 degrees attack ensued on the whole battlefield. Everything around me was violently thrown back while being electrocuted at the same time. This attack was very destructive and formed a larger although shallower crater than the one I was cornered in. the other dragons had fallen to the ground in very dangerous positions. "Chrono do you guys want to kill each other?" Zari shouted. She was also in dragon form protecting the two individuals, Prince Roy and the General with her wings. They both looked shaken up and their mouths were frothing but as soon as they came near me, they passed out. "Let me look at them." I said as I flew in dragon form to each of the dragons. They were all breathing which was very good to know but they were still unconscious. "Zari, how are you fine?" I asked. "We were watching the battle some distance away with multiple ice barriers I place. Although I think your last attack penetrated my barrier because I can feel some parts of my body not responding fast enough." Zari answered. "Then the humans?" I asked. "They should be fine. I protected them with my body by keeping them behind the attacks. They are mostly shocked." Zari answered.

[The last attack fried the dragons' nervous systems and their brains. They are regenerating and recuperating. Everything should be back to normal in a few hours.]

It took the dragons 36 hours to finally start waking up
