Levi was preparing for a business meeting when Ethan got a call, Levi signaled that he could answer the phone and Ethan listened to the person on the other side then answered.
"Make sure you follow her and continue to give me regular updates."
Then he turned to Levi, "Boss, Ms Spade did not go to the hospital."
Levi's eyes narrowed in annoyance as he thought, 'that little brat'
"She went straight to her apartment and she has not come out so far."
Levi frowned then returned to reading through the documents on his table, or at least he pretended to read them. In reality he could not concentrate because he was thinking of Lyse.
He was not very surprised that she refused to go to the hospital, she seemed very stubborn and independent.
He did not know what was going on with her but he knew that one thing was certain, she was in some kind of trouble. One did not just appear with a black eye and claim that they hit a wall.
He was a little disappointed in her lie, he thought that someone like her would be more inventive than that.
The file on her that Ethan had brought had no sign that she could be involved with any criminal activity and her roommate was also her best friend and Levi doubted that he had given her that bruise.
But then he had also abandoned her at her most vulnerable at a bar, how much of a good friend was he to do that to her?
Levi forced himself to focus on his work, reminding himself that she was not really his wife and whatever happened to her was none of his business.
But then an inner voice reminded him of Chris's advice to annul the wedding so why was he not doing that? He could offer her more money than she had ever seen in her life and send her far away from him.
So what was stopping him from doing that?
He hated to admit it but he was intrigued by her, maybe it was the fact that his ex had tried to ruin her life that made him sympathetic towards her or maybe it was her trying to pretend that she did not remember her encounter with him that annoyed him.
Whatever it was, it was stopping him from doing the easy thing and just moving on.
Some hours later after he had forced himself to concentrate on the meeting, Levi returned to his office and was going over some briefs with Ethan when the assistant received a phone call.
"Excuse me sir, it's Joel." Ethan explained.
Joel was the bodyguard who had been sent to keep watch over Lyse. He had called again after his first call to inform them that Lyse had left her apartment with an overnight bag but since then there had been no other updates from him.
The mention of an overnight bag had put Levi on edge as he wondered where she was planning to spend the night.
It had been hours since his last call and Levi had been impatient to get an update but he had resisted badgering Ethan to call Joel and find out where they were since he did not want to show his impatience.
Levi nodded at Ethan to take the call and he did. After he listened to what was said on the other side, Ethan's face eyes grew wide and he looked up at Levi who suddenly felt uneasy.
"Okay, I will speak to the Boss." Ethan said then ended the call.
"Sir, Ms Spade was involved in an accident. Joel called an ambulance and they have taken her to emergency."

Brooke stepped into the bar and looked around then she caught sight of Candace who was sitting by the bar and had been watching the entrance and was now waving at her.
With a smile Brooke went to her side and the two girls hugged each other then Candace turned to a waiter, "We are ready to go to our table now."
"Please come with me." He said and led the way to a table close to the window. After the ladies were seated he took their orders and left.
"When did you get back?" Brooke asked.
"Just yesterday, I really did not want to come back home. My trip was so great." Candace sighed.
They spent more time talking about Candace's trip while they waited for their orders to arrive but Brooke really just wanted to grab Candace and shake her until her teeth rattled. She felt annoyed that she had come all the way and they were talking about things that did not matter.
She however held her emotions in check and laughed and smiled at the appropriate times even though as time passed her smiles became more strained.
Eventually the waiter came back with their drinks and placed them before them before leaving once more. Candace brought her drink closer and took a sip while smiling slyly at Brooke.
"I hear wedding bells will soon be ringing for you."
Brooke promptly brought out her hand and fluttered her fingers in front of Candace so that she could take in the large gem.
"I always wondered what he was doing with your loser sister, you definitely deserved him." Candace praised and Brooke preened.
"I happened to be at Cape Azur." Candace continued and Brooke tilted her head.
"You were? When?"
"Right around the time of the wedding and i happened to see something very interesting."
Brooke frowned as she realized that what Candace had to say was not just some mindless gossip.
"What did you see?" Brooke urged, her eyes bright with unbridled curiosity.
Candace reached into her bag and pulled out her phone then she touched the screen before sliding it across to Brooke.
Brooke took the phone and watched first with shock then gleaming calculation as Lyse walked across a hotel lobby looking like something completely disheveled.
"I took this video the morning after the wedding, I wonder what was she doing hurriedly leaving a hotel so early in the morning and wearing men's clothes?"
