"What happened?" Levi demanded immediately Joel was ushered in.
"After I waited in front of Ms Spade's apartment, I followed her like you instructed and she drove out of the city." Joel started.
"I had noticed a truck driving between her car and mine but I did not suspect that it was tailing her originally until Ms Spade seemed to notice the car and she started driving erratically, I suppose in order to escape the driver."
"What happened next?"
The truck drove into a ditch and the driver, a male got out and ran off. I could not go in pursuit because my first priority was Ms Spade whose car was attacked by a herd of goats." He explained.
"A herd of goats?" Levi echoed.
"Yes sir. They caused her to swerve and that was how the accident happened."
"Did you find out anything about the driver of the truck?"
"No sir, by the time the ambulance came and I felt comfortable leaving Ms Spade, the police had also come and i could not search the truck."
"Did you need to resuscitate Ms Spade?" Levi suddenly asked and Joel and Ethan exchanged glances.
"Resuscitate her sir?" A visibly confused Joel asked.
"Did you give her mouth to mouth?"
Ethan's eyes grew big as he stared at his boss from the side of his eyes wondering what kind of question he was asking.
"Uhm.." Joel said uncomfortably, "She was unconscious but breathing so I did not need to resuscitate her."
"Very well, you may return to the hospital and keep watch over Ms Spade." Levi said.
He did not relish the thought of Joel's lips on Lyse's, he also felt uneasy about the mysterious man who had been failing Lyse, might he have something to do with her black eye?
When Joel was gone, Levi turned to Ethan who was still staring at his boss wide eyed. He quickly wiped the shock off his face when Levi raised an eyebrow.
"I want you to get me everything you can on the owner of that vehicle, I want to know why he was following Lyse."
"Yes boss." Ethan nodded before leaving Levi alone.
He slumped back in his chair tiredly. He could not wait for Lyse to sober up from her drugs so that he could scold her for getting him so worried.

The next time Lyse opened her eyes, she saw James sitting before her and she blinked in confusion. For some reason she could have sworn that it was Levi who had been sitting beside her.
"James?" She managed in a husky voice and started to cough which made her head pound.
He hurriedly got up and got some water with a straw in it and helped her drink then after she had drank to her satisfaction he dropped the cup back on the bedside table and glared at her with his arms akimbo.
"What. Happened. To. You!"
Lyse winced as she tried to shift and find a more comfortable position to lay in and James came to her aid.
"I turn around for just a minute and you are bedridden after having an accident!" He shrieked as he assisted her.
"How did you know that I was here?" Lyse asked,
"Your boss's personal assistant called me and let me know that you had been in an accident then directed me here."
"Personal assistant?" Lyse repeated.
She had been hired to be Levi's personal assistant so how could he have a personal assistant?
"Does it hurt?" James asked sympathetically.
"Quite a bit."
"How did this even happen in the first place?"
"Would you believe it?" Lyse asked with a wry smile, " A herd of goats."
James guffawed at the image then sobered up. "I'm so glad that nothing too serious happened to you, i don't know what i would have done."
He glanced at the door then leaned closer to Lyse, making her wrinkle her brow in confusion.
"Who is the hottie guarding your door?" James whispered with a glint in his eyes.
"What hottie?" Lyse asked confused.
"There is the most gorgeous man standing outside your door, I want to climb him like a tree." He mused, his eyes glazed over as he imagined climbing said tree.
"A man is guarding my door?" Lyse gasped in fear.
She wondered if she had hurt someone when she lost control of her car or did they think that she had done something wrong? Because what reason would there be for her to have someone guarding her hospital room.
"Is he a cop?" Lyse whispered.
James frowned as he thought for a moment then said, "i don't think so, he did not look like the police ."
"Why would anyone be guarding my room then?"
Suddenly James eyes lit up, "Maybe I can go and ask him."
Knowing how much of an incurable flirt James was, Lyse doubted that it was a good idea and she began to say no but James waved off her protests then he brought out lip gloss and applied it to his lips with a flourish then he smacked his lips together and turned to her dramatically.
"Watch me work my magic."
Lyse stared helplessly as James marched towards the door with determination. She almost felt sorry for the guard who was about to be treated to a dose of James.
She began to doze off again until she heard the door open and she opened her eyes.
'That was quick.'
She had expected James to spend a long time yapping off the guard's ears and was surprised that he was already back. Maybe the guard could not stand gay men.
Lyse frowned at the sound of the footsteps, this person was wearing heels, when they came into view she felt her headache getting worse.
"What do you want?" Lyse demanded.

When Ethan came back to the penthouse, he found Levi in his study and he raised his head after he knocked and came into the room.
"The owner of the truck is a man called Maximilian Fernandez and there is a warrant out for his arrest for the battery of his woman, a Janine Alvarez. It appeared that it was Ms Spade who had called the police to report the abuse. When the police got to the house he had escaped after punching Ms Spade."
Levi's eyebrow was raised the entire time that Ethan spoke, he had not been sure what to expect. He had assumed it might be some boyfriend or a stalker with a crush, not the deranged husband of some abused woman.
And now that he had heard what the real case was it did not surprise him. Someone with a background was bound to be a goodie two shoes and she did seem like a nosy person who would make other people's problems hers.
"Alright thank you Ethan, that will be all." Levi said and returned to his work until he noticed that Ethan had not left even after being dismissed which was weird because Ethan was always itchy to leave work.
He looked up to see the nervous face of his assistant.
"Okay, out with it." Levi said with a sigh as he dropped his pen and gave Ethan his undivided attention, surely something bad was behind Ethan's look.
"I have some news Sir." He croaked. "And it's bad."
