"You're spending too much time with that book, Avery," said Liana, her voice soft but laced with concern. "It's dangerous."
Avery barely looked up from the ancient text sprawled in front of her. The flickering candlelight cast shadows across the old, yellowed pages, the symbols and words tugging at her attention. "I have to keep reading. There's something I'm missing, something important."
Liana sighed, leaning against the wooden table. "You've been saying that for days. What if you're wrong? What if it leads you straight into danger?"
Avery finally lifted her gaze, her expression tense. "We don't have time for doubts, Liana. Liam is getting closer, and this—" she tapped the book firmly, "—might be the only thing that can stop him."
Liana frowned, crossing her arms. "But you're all alone in this. Have you told Ethan what you've found? Does he even know how deep you've gotten?"
