"Are you sure you'll be safe, Avery?" Liana's voice was soft, filled with concern as she watched Avery gather her belongings. They were in Avery's small cabin on the edge of the pack's territory, secluded and hidden.
Avery glanced up, pausing as she slid an old leather-bound book into her bag. "Liana, I've been safe so far, haven't I?" She smiled, trying to ease the worry in her friend's eyes. "Besides, I'm not going too far. Just the old cabin near the south border. I'll be back by dawn."
Liana's gaze lingered, her voice dropping to a murmur. "I don't know, Avery. Something about this… it doesn't feel right. Liam's spies… they're everywhere now." Her hand drifted to the window, as if the shadows outside held answers to her unspoken fears.
