As the sweet aroma of the cake filled the room, Rin's eyes widened in delight. She hadn't expected Leo to bring her something so thoughtful. Despite her weakened state, she smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her. "You really didn't have to come all this way for me," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Leo shrugged, a light grin on his face. "I couldn't just let you be sick and miss out on a good dessert, could I? Plus, I wanted to check on you."
Rin picked up a slice of cake and took a bite, her eyes sparkling at the taste. "Wow, this is amazing!" she exclaimed, her spirits lifting a bit. "You have great taste, Leo."
"Thanks," he replied, feeling a flush of pride. He watched as she savored each bite, her earlier embarrassment momentarily forgotten. "You should eat as much as you can. You need your strength to get better."
As they continued to talk, the atmosphere in the room became lighter. Rin shared stories of her training and her dreams of becoming a stronger fighter, while Leo listened intently, his eyes filled with admiration for her determination. The bond they shared was palpable, and for a moment, the world outside ceased to exist.
Eventually, however, the moment came when Leo had to say goodbye. As he stood by the window, ready to leave, he turned back to Rin, feeling a sudden wave of boldness. He leaned in slightly, their faces inches apart.
"You know," he began, "you really shouldn't wear that mask all the time. You look beautiful without it."
Rin's eyes widened in surprise. "Me? Beautiful?" she echoed, a faint blush creeping up her cheeks. But just as she was about to respond, the thermometer she had forgotten to set down began beeping loudly, indicating her rising temperature.
Her expression shifted, and Rin stumbled slightly, feeling light-headed. "Oh no…" she murmured, trying to steady herself. "I… I think I might—"
Before she could finish her sentence, her balance faltered, and she closed her eyes weakly. Leo instinctively reached out to catch her, but in his hurry, he grabbed the collar of her pajama top, tightening his grip without realizing it. The force pulled at the button, causing it to pop free and expose a glimpse of her skin and chest.
Just then, the door swung open, and Rin's underling, Saki, stepped in. Her eyes widened in shock as she took in the scene before her.
From Saki's perspective, it was a moment frozen in time. She had come to check on Rin, only to find her friend nearly collapsed in Leo's arms. The way he held her was far too intimate for comfort. The pajama collar pulled taut, the fabric straining against the sudden force, revealed more than Saki ever wanted to see. The contrast of Rin's pale skin against the dark fabric was striking, and Saki's heart raced—not with concern, but with anger.
"What the hell is going on here?" Saki shouted, her voice slicing through the air like a knife.
Leo turned to face her, his expression a mixture of surprise and guilt. "I can explain—"
But before he could finish, Rin's underling cut him off, her eyes narrowing. "You pervert!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the room. "What are you doing to Rin?"
The alarm in the academy began blaring, red lights flashing ominously as the atmosphere shifted from serene to chaotic in an instant. Steel bars slammed down across the windows, locking them in, and the familiar sound of mechanisms activating filled the air. The campus was going into lockdown.
"Will you believe me if I say it was a misunderstanding?" Leo asked quickly, raising his hands defensively.
But Saki wasn't having it. "Misunderstanding? You're a beast! Get away from her!"
Rin, still dazed, was slowly coming to her senses, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she processed what was happening. The alarm blared louder, drawing attention from other girls in the academy who rushed toward Rin's room.
"Pervert!" Saki shouted again, charging at Leo, fists clenched. "Get away from Rin!"
With no other choice, Leo turned on his heels and bolted toward the door, heart racing. He had to escape before the whole campus descended upon him.
