Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The First Day of School

The early morning sun filtered through the tall windows of the dormitory, casting a warm glow on the polished wooden floors. Leo stretched, feeling the slight soreness from yesterday's events. The previous day had been eventful—his encounter with Nomura and the fierce duel that ended in a draw with Rin Onigawara, the girl wielding a wooden sword with unmatched confidence and skill.

Leo glanced around his dorm room, which he now shared with Nomura. It had the same layout as in the anime—a spacious room with two single beds, a small kitchenette, a common sitting area, and a desk by the window. The room's walls were adorned with posters of various martial arts moves and techniques, adding a personal touch to the otherwise plain dormitory setting.

Nomura stirred from his bed and sat up, his hair messy from sleep. "Morning, Leo," he greeted, rubbing his eyes.

"Morning, Nomura," Leo replied. "Did you sleep well?"

Nomura nodded, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "Yeah, surprisingly well. I was half-expecting to wake up in a hospital bed after yesterday."

Leo chuckled. "Well, you're lucky I was there to carry you to the nurse's office. If I hadn't stepped in, you might still be unconscious."

Nomura grinned, clearly appreciative of Leo's help. "I guess that makes us friends, huh?"

"Yeah, I'd say so," Leo agreed. "Besides, it seems like we're going to be stuck together for a while."

As the two prepared for the day, they heard a knock on their door. It was Masuko, Nomura's friend, who was visiting their room. He was a large, boisterous guy with an intimidating appearance, but his kind demeanor was a stark contrast.

"Yo, Nomura! Leo!" Masuko greeted with a grin. "Heard about the little stunt you pulled yesterday. Quite the way to make an entrance, huh?"

Leo smirked. "What can I say? I like to keep things interesting."

Masuko laughed heartily. "Well, you definitely got the girls talking. Especially Rin. She doesn't usually get tied in a match."

The three of them decided to spend their morning exploring the academy grounds. The school was vast, with multiple buildings dedicated to different disciplines, training grounds, and gardens where students could practice their martial arts. The place had a unique charm—traditional Japanese architecture mixed with modern elements.

As they walked, they bumped into Chōka U. Baragasaki, one of the Five Supreme Swords, known for her strict demeanor and exceptional fighting skills. She had her signature eyepatch on, her long black hair tied back, and her usual stern expression.

"Nomura," she said sharply, acknowledging him with a nod. Her gaze shifted to Leo, her eyes narrowing. "You're the new guy who fought Rin yesterday, right?"

Leo met her gaze evenly. "Yeah, that's me. I'm Leo."

Chōka seemed to scrutinize him for a moment, as if assessing his worth. "You better not cause trouble here. We have enough of that as it is."

Leo smiled calmly. "I'll keep that in mind, Chōka. But I'm not one to back down if challenged."

Chōka's expression softened slightly, perhaps out of curiosity or respect. She turned to leave but paused. "Stay out of trouble," she said over her shoulder, disappearing down the corridor.

Once she was out of earshot, Masuko nudged Leo. "Man, you've got guts, talking to Chōka like that."

Leo shrugged. "I've faced worse."

After a quick tour around the academy, the trio returned to their dorm to prepare for the day ahead. As they settled in, Leo, Nomura, and Masuko found themselves in the common area, lounging around.

Nomura pulled out a portable gaming console. "How about a quick match before classes start?"

"Sounds good," Leo agreed. "But don't expect me to go easy on you."

They spent the next few hours playing games and sharing stories. Leo found himself enjoying the company of Nomura and Masuko. They were a good balance—Nomura with his laid-back yet determined attitude and Masuko with his boisterous but loyal personality. For Leo, who had spent much of his time preparing for his multiversal journey, it was a refreshing change to simply enjoy some lighthearted moments.

The evening went by quickly, and the three of them stayed up late, talking about the academy, the Five Supreme Swords, and what challenges might await them. Leo found himself getting more comfortable with his new life here, even if it was only temporary.

As they finally decided to get some sleep, Leo glanced out the window at the academy grounds, the moonlight casting a serene glow over the buildings. Tomorrow, classes would start, and the real adventure would begin.
