Chapter 3 - Danger looms all around

"Excuse me?" Luna blurted out and jumped up onto her feet.

"If there is anyone around playing pranks, I would appreciate it if you can just stop this minute because it is no longer funny and I ..." Luna was saying but stopped abruptly.

She knew she wasn't making any sense. It didn't seem like it was a prank as she was certain no one was in the house with her, other than the dog.

"Oh my God! What is going on?" Luna asked herself as she paced the room, her eyes darting between the dog and the corners of the room.

"Should I call the police or should I just run out?" She contemplated inwardly.

"But this is my house. How can I run away from my home?" She wondered and shook her head. She was panting heavily and her hands were raised to her chest, as if that would help to calm her racing heart.

"Can you stop pacing around? You're making my eyes turn." She heard the voice again and she was certain it was indeed coming from the dog.

Slowly and carefully, she approached the dog even though her heart was beating faster in fear.

"How can a dog talk? And with his mouth not moving? Is that even possible?" Luna stated, staring at the dog carefully.

"Am I really going out of my mind? Is it because I have been overworking without a break for the past two months?" Luna wondered, aloud.

"That is because I am not a dog. And actually, you are hearing my thoughts." The dog replied to her.

Luna's jaw was almost hitting the ground at the information. She was so taken aback. Her palms were becoming sweaty as she clenched her fists.

"A dog saying he is not a dog? Does it make any sense?" Luna wondered inwardly, shaking her head in disbelief. Then, she summoned courage and decided to ask the question that was itching the back of her throat.

"If you are not a dog, then what are you?" She asked the dog, curiously.

"My name is Kai." The masculine voice informed her.

"Kai? As in you are a human?" Luna inquired further.

"And more." That was the curt response of the voice.

The response just confused Luna the more.

"You are a human and more? What does that even mean?" She inquired, sounding utterly confused.

"Before you question me further, can I get some food? I am famished." The masculine voice told her.

"Oh, okay..." Luna replied reluctantly but stood rooted to a spot. She was too confused to move.

"Is this really happening?" She couldn't help but wonder in her mind. She knew supernaturals existed but the event playing before her was completely out of her experience.

"Why are you just standing there, staring into space?" The voice jolted Luna out of her thoughts. She flinched at the sound and looked at the dog, skeptically.

"You don't have to be afraid of me." She heard the voice said again, that time, more gently.

"Huh?" She raised her eyebrows. She sounded doubtful.

"I won't hurt you. And thank you for helping me. You were the one who didn't allow me to bleed to death last night." The voice stated, appreciatively.

The appreciation seemed to help to calm Luna's nerves a bit, but not completely.

She nodded reluctantly and walked into her kitchen.

"What do I offer him as food now?" She contemplated as she opened her fridge and found it empty.

She checked her cabinets and there wasn't anything to cook or eat as food.

"God, I need to go for grocery shopping." Luna grunted and shook her head as she observed the emptiness of her kitchen. As if on cue, her stomach roared, reminding her that she hadn't eaten anything since the previous day.

"I can imagine the look that Tessa would have on her face if I should tell her that I am going for grocery shopping today." Luna stated, chuckling to herself.

She walked back into her room, to get changed. That was where she had kept the dog because of the warmth.

"No, I need something comfy." Luna stated as she rummaged her wardrobe for an outfit. She had removed her clothes and was stark naked.

"This woman really has no self control." Luna heard the deep voice she was gradually getting familiar with.

"Does she not know that I am a man?" The voice said again and Luna almost had whiplash turning around.

"Oh my God! Can you see me?" Luna inquired, shockingly.

"Of course not, I don't have eyes so I can't see anything except your shadow which is naked by the way." The voice stated sarcastically.

Luna didn't know whether to laugh or be angry. She quickly grabbed a towel and covered her body.

"You should have looked away." She snapped at the dog.

"I hurt my head and I can't really move my neck yet if you haven't noticed." The voice informed Luna and that made her just gritted her teeth in silence, not knowing what to say.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Do you really have to do this?" The voice asked, struggling to walk. Luna had insisted on taking him along for the shopping, as he needed exercise for his injured hind leg. And she had put a leash on him.
"You need the exercise." Luna said to him, in a whisper. She didn't want passersby to think she was out of her mind and talking alone.
Suddenly, The dog stopped walking and took a sniff of the air.
"What?" Luna inquired.
"We are being followed." The voice told her.
"By who?" She was taken aback.
"Dangerous people who are after my life." The voice announced and before Luna could reply, the dog took off, running away.
"Oh, and what am I supposed to do?" Luna yelled at his retreating figure. Then, some scary looking guys approached Luna.
"Take her." One of the gang barked the order at the other men, glaring at Luna.
