Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Do you ever take a bath?"

Philip asked sarcastically as he positioned his pointed nose in a different direction struggling to catch fresh air. He made it so obvious Olivia began to cry.

She wiped her tears with the back of her dirty hands. She too could perceive the awful smell coming from her body. They made her work so hard, she had to sweep the streets, go to the farm, wash the toilet used by more than one hundred prisoners.

The water she used in bathing wasn't so clean and they had limited time to bathe. This was far worse than what she saw and read about prisoners.

"You should be the one in here. But I took the fall and you dare insult me Philip?"

Her voice was shaky and filled with tears.

From the first day she walked into jail she had been a crying child. Every night tears would soak her bed before morning.

She could barely eat the food served in prison. It tasted bald in her mouth. Olivia had to suffer all this for love.

"When am I leaving this place? I want to go home."

She sniffled tears.

Philip sighed

"Maybe in the next couple of months or a year."

"What!?" She exclaimed in disbelief at his words. This wasn't what he had promised her.

"Things got a little out of control. I'm sorry."

He explained briefly.

"What do you mean things got out of control? I want to go home!." Her voice skyrocketed in grief.

"Calm down Olivia or I will call the security to take you back if you do not shut up and listen to me "

His voice sounded toxic to her ears. How dare he threaten her? Wasn't he the same man who had begged her to take his place?

Three weeks back Philip returned home with a check of a million dollars which she needed for her nanny's treatment. Filled with joy, Olivia signed the cheque without reading the terms with which he was offering her the money. It was after the police showed up at her doorstep, Philip began explaining how she was to be a scapegoat for a fraudulent crime but promised to get her out of jail in a matter of weeks.

"You promised me Philip."

"Promises are made to be broken, Olivia."

He shut her up, raising a finger in the air.

Olivia's chest heaved in anger. She couldn't believe Philip could be so heartless. Three years of her sacrifice to him, the only way he could pay her was by framing her and then dumping her in jail.

Philip then brought out a document from his briefcase with a blue pen. His ocean blue eyes were void of any emotion, or love. Back then he used to treat her like a princess. Now he treated her like trash.

"What is this?"

"Why don't you read it yourself."

She strained her eyes reading the document word for word. Who knows if the document had to do with her selling her kidney in exchange for freedom.

"Divorce!"

She read the line over again. It stated Philip was divorcing Olivia Bruce which was her name.

"I-i do not understand, Philip. What did I do to deserve all of this?"

Her heart was racing inside her chest.

"We are getting married."

A feminine voice replied from behind her.

She could hear the clicking sound of a designer's heels, there was a sudden change in the atmosphere too due to her perfume.

Betty kissed Philip on both of his cheeks then a little on his lips.

"Sorry I'm late my love."

All the seats were occupied so she settled on Philips laps pressing his head to her breast.

"What is the meaning of this Philip?"

"Are you too blind to see we are both getting married soon?"

Olivia's jaw dropped to the floor. More tears cascaded her eyes. Someone needs to wake her up, it has to be a bad dream.

"You are wasting my time, I have more important engagements to attend."

He smirked, glaring at Betty's butt.

"You bad boy."

Then she kissed him, rubbing her legs on his d*ck.

The scene was unbearable towards Olivia. She felt like throwing up all she had eaten. only if she could turn back the hands of time, she wouldn't have accepted eating his food knowing it was a trap, she just sold her marriage for a plate of delicious food.

Their kissing became intense. She couldn't bear it anymore. This was a slap to her face. She grabbed the pen and began signing her part of the divorce papers with trembling hands. Philip had already signed his part meaning his mind was already made up. There was no second chance.

"I promise you both, you will regret messing with my emotions, my life and time."

She slammed the desk loud. The security outside rushed in and pinned her face to the table handcuffing her hand behind her back.

"She's being violent. Please take her away" Philip immediately ordered when the guards came in.

"You do not have an idea of who you are messing with, you will regret this Philip."

"I hate you."

"Take her away."

Betty yelled out. Just before the door closed Olivia witnessed the evil smirk on Betty's face.

"You shouldn't have come over, I begged you to stay away from me while I handle things myself."

His face etched with a frown. He wanted to hide his relationship from Olivia now Betty had ruined it.

"Are you blaming me now? What difference would it make if I showed up or not?"

Her voice challenged back.

Philip despised arguments, especially with Betty, she always wins
