Chapter 5 - chapter 5

Chapter 5

The pin dropping silence between the two was oppressive. Dylan kept stealing glances at Olivia who was in a world of her own. Her mind was clouded with anger and pain remembering those three years.

After she was done, she turned to Dylan.

"You do not have to explain anything to me. I will drive you home, we can do this some other time."

He broke the awkward silence still keeping his gaze on the road.

Dylan did all the talking while Olivia sat like a log of wood sniffling in tears. Seeing Philip's face had poisoned her happiness. All this while she thought that she had healed but no she hadn't until Philip had a taste of what he made her suffer for three years.

His Ferrari screeched to a halt right in front of her mansion.

"Do you need help?"

"No. I can manage."

"That was a pretty good slap you know. Did you attend taekwondo lessons?"

Olivia forced a smile to his joke. Even she hadn't known she could strike someone so hard.

"Good night."

She stepped out of his car in a hurry. Tears she had been holding back were finally realized. Dylan watched her walk into her house. He waited for a while just in case she tried anything stupid.

"I won't do anything stupid. I love my life. Goodnight."

was the text she sent to him.

With that, he drove to his own mansion feeling disappointed. He had already imagined all he would do to Olivia the spanking and all that. Now Philip showed up and ruined his night.

Dylan's laptop was on and he began to search for Olivia's profile. The only Olivia he found who did not look like the Olivia she just dropped off. He kept scrolling then found a picture of the man who ruined their night with Olivia together.

"Ex husband." He said as a smirk appeared on his face.

"What makes you think you will have a chance with my Olivia again?"

Although he wasn't in love with her, as long as they were going to be together, He wouldn't want to share Olivia with anyone

Philip had never been humiliated in his entire life. He had been the one humiliating her for three years in front of his friends. His family saw her as some locust who wanted reaping from where she did not sow. Now he felt sorry and wanted to do the right thing.

He had a bag of ice on his face, her slap was hard and painful. The man she was with worried him the most. Everyone knew who Dylan was, aside being a young business tycoon he was a flirt. He changes women every day. Olivia's heart would be broken a second time. So he thought.

The next morning before 9 am Olivia was already at work going through those figures all over again just to be sure before she starts fairing to some persons like Mr. Sam.

"Can I get you tea?"

Her personal assistant asked.

Olivia looked up at her. Her old personal assistant wasn't this nice. She always grumbled about the load of work then she finally reassigned. Charlotte was different despite the work; she still had time to ask her boss if she wanted tea.

"Put in a lot of milk."

"Alright miss."

Within a few minutes after she was out, Mr Sam walked into the office without knocking or greeting his boss.

"Two companies are willing to stop partnering with us."

He handed her the letter they sent.

Olivia looked at it, these were top contributors to the company. Immediately Olivia could smell something fishy about this. Why would both companies suddenly want to withdraw at the same time?

"Did they mention why they changed their mind?"

"No. They just decided to withdraw in the next twenty four hours."

"Not to worry I will handle it."

"How?"

His voice sounded challenging.

"That is none of your business."

She responded.

"Do you even know what you are doing?"

"Yes I know exactly what I am doing, now excuse me."

Mr Sam placed both hands on the table looking furious. Olivia did not flinch, she remained calm and stoic.

"Sleeping with Dylan won't make you any smarter, he is only going to use you like the rest and when he is tired he will dump you just like your ex husband."

"Get out."

Her voice remained calm and composed.

Mr. Sam, feeling satisfied with himself left her sight slamming the door loud enough for others to hear. The line has been drawn between the fast and the furious. The staff were to just watch and see who wins.

"Why does he hate you so much?"

Charlotte returned with a cup of Milky tea.

Olivia lost her appetite. She packed her bag and wanted to leave to visit each of the companies that wanted to withdraw and find out why before her father finds out about it. He might begin to have second thoughts.

"Going somewhere little bird?"

Dylan packed right in front of her.

'He will only use and dump you just like your ex husband'

Mr. Sam's words rang in her head. Dylan looked harmless and besides whatever was going on between them did not involve love so no one was going to get hurt.

' I need to be very careful of Dylan.'

Olivia thought to herself.

"Are you alright?"

He asked, sticking red roses at her face. It smelt nice.

"Thank you."

"Do you need my help?"

"Maybe."

On the way she told him about the company's threat to withdraw. Dylan dialed a number and gave orders for Bruce's company to remain as their top priority. With one phone call her problem was solved.

"What about lunch?"

She was about to decline, a gurgling sound from her stomach betrayed her. Dylan heard it so it took it as a yes even when she did not give a verbal answer.

They arrived at the restaurant after a few minutes' drive.

Olivia chose the seat Close to the window where she could see the garden. That same garden Philip had proposed to her three years ago.

"Are you alright?" Dylan asked curiously.

Olivia didn't speak a word but She shook her head in response.

"Now that we're here, why don't we discuss something vital, Miss Bruce?" Dylan said and smiled evilly at her.

Olivia nodded. "I'm all ears, Mr Dylan"

"Become my contract girlfriend for six months… and I will make sure to elevate your father's company, investing half of my shares in it" He said in a low whispering tone.
