CHAPTER FIFTY
"Hey, hey, hey!" the man yelled, his hands shooting up in a gesture of surrender.
"It's me!"
Cherry froze, her purse suspended in mid-air as her eyes narrowed.
"Who are you?"
"It's me! Why are you attacking me so hard? I didn't offend you… at least not today," he replied as he tried to regain his composure.
The masked figure's voice was oddly familiar, and as she focused, it struck her like a bolt of lightning.
"Rafael?" she whispered,
"Yeah," he removed his mask.
"Why does everyone think I'm someone else when I wear this mask? Haven't I suffered enough? First it was those guys from yesterday, and now it's you?" he lamented.
With a playful grin, he extended a hand toward her. "Please help me up!"
As he gripped her hand, she felt her own balance wobble, nearly toppling over in the process.
"Just… hold on!" she said, struggling to pull him up from the ground.
