CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
"Your mother only relocated to this country after receiving two very strange calls," Amy's grandma began with a low voice like she was sharing a dark secret.
Cherry leaned closer.
"What kind of calls?"
"One was from a man, a total stranger.
He spoke with a harsh tone, asking where she was, and he made a terrifying threat.
He said if he found her by himself, he'd eliminate both you and her."
Amy's grandma paused. Her face clouded with memories.
"Then there was the second call…"
Cherry stood, intrigued.
"What happened with the second one?"
"It was from a woman, claiming to be your father's sister.
Your mother had never known he had a sister, but the woman was convincing."
Abuela sighed deeply, looking Cherry in the eye.
Cherry felt a chill. "What did she tell Amy's mom… I….mean…my mom?"
