CHAPTER FORTY- NINE
She found herself lost in thought, and every second was ticking away like grains of sand slipping through an hourglass.
"What I'm I still contemplating?"
There was no time to dwell on it anymore.
Snapping out of her daze, the noise of the outside world rushed back in.
There was no room for hesitation, she had to move, and she had to move fast.
Juana met her where she stood, her figure framed by the fading evening light.
"Isn't it time we leave, ma'am?" she asked, with a slight tilt of her head.
"I need to make sure you're safely dropped off at home before I take my leave."
"Oh…um…Juana…" she hesitated, trying to gather her thoughts. "I have somewhere to be urgently. Please tell Carlos I'll find my own way home."
Juana became protective, even if she didn't want to.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but Lady Yo was clear, I'm not to lose sight of you, especially this late.
