Chapter 4 - lies?

The host inquired, "Who is this caller?" The producer quickly responded, "It's Li Haoyu's fiancée."

At this moment, a fleeting trace of panic flickered across "her" usually composed face, conveyed through subtle body language her reluctance for the host to answer the call. The producer keenly picked up on this but ignored it, directly putting the call through to the live broadcast.

Before the host could utter a word, Li Haoyu's fiancée's voice, tinged with urgency, pierced through the air: "Please don't believe her easily, she's the real liar."

Upon hearing this, "she" trembled slightly, as if frozen on the sofa by the sudden accusation, wanting to speak but holding back.

Seeing this, the producer exaggeratedly waved his arms, signaling the host to adjust the direction of the interview. The host turned to the invisible audience and asked, "Are you Li Haoyu's fiancée? How should I address you?"

The gentle yet firm response came through the phone, "Just call me Yongjie."

The host nodded in understanding and continued, "Hello, Yongjie. I'm intrigued to know why you've suddenly called in and accused my guest of lying. Could you elaborate on your position and reasons, please?"

Yongjie's words cut through the silence like a sharp blade, "I'll get straight to the point. Li Haoyu is not the abuser she portrays him to be. Her actions stem solely from selfish desires, attempting to possess Li Haoyu for herself. This is no secret within the company; her infatuation with Li Haoyu is widely known. She tries to present herself as a savior, but the truth is, she suffers from a delusional disorder, her world disconnected from reality.

We had hoped to keep our relationship low-key, but we were forced to go public to avoid her relentless pursuit. She not only sends him daily love letters and harasses him with phone calls, but she has even resorted to stalking me, confronting me at my doorstep, demanding that I give up Chen Zhuowei. What's even more absurd is the birthday gift she gave to Li Haoyu; I would like her to explain to everyone here the intentions behind it. If she finds it difficult to speak, I wouldn't mind revealing it on her behalf."

Inside the studio, the atmosphere was so tense that one could hear a pin drop. The "her" in front of the camera seemed frozen, silent as a statue.

Seeing this, the producer intervened at the right moment, and three documents provided by Yongjie gradually appeared on the screen, lying there peacefully as if carrying the key to unveiling the truth. At this moment, everyone's gaze was captivated by this sudden evidence, eagerly anticipating what would unfold next.

The first piece of evidence was a meticulously taken photograph by Yongjie, where the lens cleverly penetrated the gap in the curtains, capturing a corner of the street. In the frame, a woman with a striking resemblance to "her" was hiding behind a telephone pole, a telescope hanging from her chest revealing her intention to spy. Yongjie explained, "Whenever Li Haoyu visits my house, she hides there, watching every move inside, making us afraid to even step into our bedroom and limiting ourselves to the living room."

The host leaned closer to the monitor screen, scrutinizing it intently, only to shake his head in regret, "The lighting is too dim to confirm it's her."

Prepared for this, Yongjie continued, "I have clearer photos, but I chose this one because it's intimately connected to the birthday gift I'm about to reveal." The producer nodded, gesturing for Yongjie to hold off on the birthday gift for now and asked, "Apart from the gift, do you have any other evidence to share with us?"

Yongjie's tone was firm, "Yes, there are her love letters to Li Haoyu!" As she spoke, the screen shifted to the beginning of one of the letters.

Following the blue-lined paragraph at the bottom of the letter, Yongjie read slowly, "Dear Yu, my little Haoyu, do you believe in destiny? I had planned to start a new chapter in Taipei, but fate intervened, bringing me here and leading me to you. When we first met, I tentatively asked if we'd met before, and you shook your head, but my heart fluttered with an inexplicable sense of familiarity. That night, I dreamed of myself in a wedding dress, wandering through the offices until I stopped at your desk, where a 'wedding photo' of us was displayed, identical to the dress in my dream. This dream made me stay by your side, unwaveringly."

Yongjie's tone was laced with complex emotions as she said, "This was written on her second day on the job, and it's the most subtle of the lot. The subsequent letters were so explicit that they were almost unbearable to read, with her even explicitly expressing her wish for Li Haoyu to be the memory of her first night. As Li Haoyu's fiancée, you can imagine how I felt reading these words."

The host turned to "1" and asked, "Are these words truly yours, penned by your own hand?" Faced with this pointed inquiry, "1" lowered their head deeply, as if even the courage to lift it had been drained.

The host's brows furrowed as they asked, "Did she exaggerate any part of her account?"

"1" spoke with a slight tremor in their voice, "Please allow me to clarify."

Yongjie interjected, "The clarification can wait until after the gift is revealed. For now, let us confront this special birthday gift directly."

The scene shifted, and a seemingly ordinary packet of facial tissues tied with a pink ribbon appeared on the screen. Yongjie explained, "This is the so-called 'gift.' We haven't touched it because its content is too sensitive to be publicly displayed. It was the very next day, after I accidentally caught that image, that she personally handed this 'gift' to Li Haoyu."

The host looked perplexed. "What's so special about these tissues? To me, they look no different from regular ones."

"1"s eyes turned red as they pleaded, "Please let me explain."

Yongjie raised her voice, speaking bluntly, "The truth is, she committed an indecent act on a crowded street, and that's why I'm here. If I didn't confront her in front of everyone, someone else would surely believe her lies. The night before Li Haoyu's birthday, she stood on the sidewalk, masturbating while staring at my room. Just before climax, she stuffed the tissues into her skirt, letting them absorb her fluids. Her knees clamped tightly around a lamppost, convulsing, and her gaze never left my room. You've seen the footage, so now you should know who's really lying. And this moment, this 'evidence,' is my gift." The host was stunned, looking towards the sound control booth before exchanging a complicated glance with the producer.

Yongjie continued, "I have concrete evidence. In that moment of shock and helplessness, I secretly recorded it all. At the birthday party, she calmly presented this packet of tissues to Li Haoyu, forcing him to smell it, claiming its special feature was the 'scent.' I exposed her on the spot, yet instead of showing any shame, she expected that gesture to elicit sympathy."

The assistant quietly entered, avoiding the cameras, and handed the video footage on their phone to the host. As the footage played, the host's expression shifted from surprise to anger.

Yongjie stated calmly, "I came forward to reveal the truth and prevent innocent people from being wrongfully accused. That night, she staged an absurd performance with me as her target. The video is here, and the truth is now clear. Now, if you'll allow me, who exactly is weaving the lies?"

The host gestured for the assistant to leave and turned to "1": "Now, it's your turn to explain."

"1" remained silent for a moment before finally saying, "I admit my behavior was inappropriate, but that's all I have to say." With that, she left the stage, her head bowed.

Yongjie's emotions ran high as she exclaimed, "Is that it? A casual admission is supposed to make up for the harm you've caused us? Your lies and the fueling of the internet have destroyed our wedding plans, shattered my dreams for the future. Have you ever thought about how I'm supposed to pick up the pieces after all this?"

Taking a deep breath, Yongjie continued, "But there's one thing I must clarify, I am still a virgin. Li Haoyu respects me, cherishes me, and he has never crossed any boundaries. How dare you convict him based solely on your one-sided story? What was the original intention of this show? To hastily label Li Haoyu before the police have even reached a conclusion? Is that fair?"

The host remained silent for a long moment before finally saying, "I understand your anger and frustration, but the truth takes time to verify. As for whether to continue trusting or not, I cannot give an immediate answer."

Yongjie stared directly into the camera, her tone firm: "I hope the audience will think rationally and not be swayed by emotions. This is not just about one person's innocence, but a stand for justice and the truth. Remember, the 'sexual assault' that happened in a dream is nothing but an illusion."

The host picked up a glass of water, drank it in one gulp, and announced, "To gain a more comprehensive understanding of this matter, I propose a special interview. Yongjie, if you agree, we will arrange it immediately. Now, let's move on to commercial break, and we'll continue shortly."
