Chapter 8 - number 32(2)

She drew a deep breath and spoke slowly, "Amidst that nightmarish violation, I encountered an ineffable supernatural phenomenon. As if guided by invisible hands, I found myself slipping into a state deeper than unconsciousness, my body frozen like ice while my mind remained abnormally lucid. Just as despair threatened to consume me, an inconceivable force detached my soul from my mortal coil. I hovered in midair, watching my body endure unspeakable agony, powerless to intervene or even cry out."

The host leaned forward, his eyes alight with curiosity. "And then?"

She continued, "In that instant, I realized I was somehow present within Li Haoyu's bedroom, observing my own body from a bizarre perspective. Panic seized me as I frantically searched for a way back, until my gaze fell upon a corner of the room where a figure stood, shrouded in obscurity. She seemed to wear a robe woven from flickering flames, her surroundings haloed by lingering embers. Her gaze burned through every veil of pretense and fear I had. Gathering my courage, I quavered, 'Was it you... who took me from there?' She did not directly respond, but spoke in a tone of mournful resolve, 'You should not have done this to him. You should not have soiled him, nor should you have driven him to become like me.' The 'him' she referred to was Li Haoyu, but in that moment, I comprehended her words transcended mere identity."

As her words faded, an indescribable aura seemed to settle over the entire interview room.

The host pressed on, "To soil Li Haoyu? What lies beneath that phrase?"

She shook her head, a trace of confusion in her eyes. "She did not elaborate further, merely repeating, 'Tell him to stop!' And then, abruptly, I snapped out of that state, my gaze meeting Li Haoyu's in midair. Time seemed to freeze in that instant, his movements below stilled. Just as I struggled to break free, to cry out for help, he suddenly pressed his hand to my forehead, reclined back onto the bed, and I, once more, was imprisoned within my own body."

The host furrowed his brow, lost in thought for a moment, before speaking slowly, "Can you recall any distinguishing features of that woman's appearance?"

She closed her eyes, striving to recall, "It was truly difficult, for her face was marred by severe burns, almost charred to a soot-like hue. Though I cannot vividly paint her features, I could sense the intensity of her emotions, her earnest attempt to halt Li Haoyu's actions."

The host nodded, his voice heavy with significance. "Li Haoyu's mother perished in a fire. Have you heard of the ancient legend of XX Town?"

She nodded softly, acknowledging her awareness.

The host pressed on, "For those viewers unfamiliar with this tale, let me offer a brief exposition. In XX Town, it is believed that one who leaves the confines of this place incurs an unspeakable curse. Hence, a red thread serves as a boundary, marking the divide. My years of research in XX Town, while unable to conclusively verify the authenticity of this curse, have led me to gather information suggesting that Li Haoyu's mother possessed abilities more extraordinary than most in the town. When he resolved to depart XX Town, she attempted to invoke a curse to force his return, to no avail. Desperate, she took her own life, and as she crossed that red thread, flames engulfed her in an instant. Thus, I postulate that the woman who manifested in your consciousness may very well have been Li Haoyu's mother."

The host's brow furrowed once more as he probed, "Regarding the woman's stature, are you certain of your recollection?"

She affirmed with certainty, "Yes, when I looked up at her, my gaze distinctly rose. I stand at 165 centimeters, so she must have been at least 170. Coupled with the information you've mentioned, it all but confirms that it was indeed Li Haoyu's mother."

She paused, seemingly gathering her thoughts, before continuing, "Regarding that experience, while the outside world often speculates that I was hypnotized by Li Haoyu, deep down, I do not fully subscribe to that notion. I believe he possesses a unique ability, whereby when someone lies down or draws near, he can somehow entrap them on a conscious level, as if their body and mind become severed."

The host nodded in agreement, "Your perception holds much truth. I, too, have uncovered similar threads in my investigation. I interviewed Li Haoyu's neighbor in Alley Y, a university student, who recounted a peculiar incident to me. At a weekend party, when Li Haoyu, inebriated, collapsed beside his bed, the neighbor leaned against Li Haoyu's shoulder, engrossed in his phone, devoid of sleepiness. However, as they both eventually lay down to rest, the neighbor suddenly found himself unable to move, his mind lucid yet his body seemingly bound. Initially, he attributed it to the hazy state between wakefulness and sleep induced by alcohol, until Li Haoyu left the room, freeing him from his paralysis. This case strongly suggests that Li Haoyu's ability seems to activate when he is sober and the other person is in a recumbent position."

A flicker of surprise mingled with confusion crossed her eyes upon hearing his words. "Your description echoes my own experience. Though reason dictates that I should remain skeptical of such supernatural phenomena, my personal encounter leaves me unable to dismiss their existence. This feeling, both conflicting and authentic, has lingered with me to this day, unresolved."

The host let out a gentle sigh, his gaze imbued with a sense of profundity. "In your youth, you may not have yet encountered events that shake the very foundations of society, like the tale of Gao Qiyun. He, the first to challenge the taboos of XX Town and resolutely depart, bore the curse, transforming into a fearsome man-eater. When I was six, I first read about him in the newspapers; that fear and awe are still etched in my childhood memories. So, remember, the world is far more complex and vast than what meets the eye. Keep your heart open to embrace the unknown and the possible."

She nodded thoughtfully, seemingly touched by these words.

The host aptly steered the conversation back to the interview: "Then, aside from what we've discussed today, have you encountered any other experiences that could be categorized as supernatural?"

She shook her head softly, her eyes reflecting purity and candor. "No, at least in my recollection, this is the only instance that has been so direct and profound."

The host smiled and nodded in understanding. "Well, thank you so much for opening up and sharing this extraordinary experience with us today. For now, our interview comes to a close. After these commercials, we will welcome the 74th reported victim to share their story. Once again, thank you for your participation. I hope this interview has provided you with some positive insights and reflections."
