Chapter 14 - Another one

"What detail could be so crucial?"

Taking a deep breath, the reporter continued, "That detail was originally the cornerstone of my report. But just as I sat down in my car, preparing to translate my thoughts into words, it vanished from my memory like it had been swept away by a sudden gust of wind. This misstep ultimately led my story astray, diverting public attention from where it truly belonged."

"Until your video sparked a storm online, I followed your advice in the video, closed my eyes, and counted to three in my head. And like a flood tide, those forgotten fragments surged back into my consciousness." The reporter's eyes brightened. "That night, the policewoman's words echoed clearly in my ears, revealing a truth far more jarring than any urban legend."

Tapping gently on a specific line in the newspaper, he drew attention to the key clue that provoked deep thought. "Instead of answering, she told me, 'He raped me in my dreams.'"

Lifting his gaze, his eyes bore a profound intensity as he continued, "But before that shocking confession, the victim actually revealed an even more astonishing piece of information – the assailant's name. The full statement should have been, 'His name is LHY, and he raped me in my dreams.' Those initials, 'LHY,' though vague, combined with subsequent investigations, uncovered a stunning coincidence."

A trace of disbelief lingered in the reporter's tone. "Most perplexing is that this incident wasn't just a matter of the victim's faulty memory. Even the policewoman on the scene had momentarily forgotten this crucial conversation. It took repeated pleas over the phone, nearly half an hour, before she finally agreed to perform that simple countdown ritual with me. Unbelievably, at the very moment we finished counting, her memory miraculously returned."

Tapping once more on that line in the report, he emphasized, "I witnessed it all firsthand, knowing full well that the victim's injuries prevented her from speaking clearly. Yet, the muffled 'Li Haoyu' lingered hauntingly in my mind. Further investigation revealed that this Li Haoyu indeed resided near the V-Club alley where the accident occurred. These coincidences convinced me that this case transcends simple accident."

His eyes flashed with determination. "More importantly, the victim's description of being raped in a dream, though bizarre, coupled with all the clues, leads me to suspect a profound connection between Li Haoyu and this incident. It all points to a possibility – this wasn't just a nightmare, but a terrifying truth where reality and dreams intertwine."

Upon hearing this, '1' furrowed her brow, her voice sounds deeply "This indeed suggests he was likely present at the scene, or else the precision of your memory erasure cannot be explained. His flight was perhaps fueled by fear and an attempt to evade responsibility."

The reporter pondered for a moment, his voice heavy with emotion, "After the accident, he fled to the south. He must have been terrified, thinking he could escape punishment. But justice has a long arm, and his evil deeds eventually surfaced."

'1's gaze lingered on the date in the newspaper, nodding slightly in agreement with the reporter's deduction. "It seems Li Haoyu hastily left the north just three days later. This temporal coincidence further reinforces our suspicions."

A steely resolve flashed in the reporter's eyes. "I want to confront him myself, to uncover the truth behind it all. Can you give me his contact information?"

Without hesitation, '1' reached into her bag for her phone, ready to search for the number, but a message popped up on the screen, interrupting her. Glancing at it, her expression changed slightly, and she turned to the reporter. "Yongjie just informed me that I don't have to go to work tomorrow..."
